I also discovered in my searches yesterday evening that brothers Thomas and William Boone were well-known booksellers and antiquarians in London, with the height of their activity being between about 1815 to 1830.

Are they also part of your family??

Amongst its aims was that, for a small fee, it kept a central registry of births mainly (but not solely) within non-conformist families, to avoid the necessity of having to have a child baptised in the Anglican church. It had variable success; up to 49,000 births were registered there until after a few months of the General Register Office for England and Wales starting up in 1837, following the Births and Deaths Registration Act the previous year. These registers are now at The National Archives under class RG5 and indexed in RG4.

Lucy, Sylvia is right.

It's worth searching online for Dr Williams's Library, which was a registry for non-conformist births.

I have no idea of the source for the information you mentioned but here he is - with a little more information.

WIlliam Crawford Boone, son of Thomas Boone and Mary, his wife who was the daughter of William and Theodora Crawford, was born in the Parish of St Giles, Middlesex on 30 July 1799.

Registered at Dr Williams's Library, Redcross Street nr Cripplegate, London on 12 Nov 1799.

Registrar: J L Towers.

(A copy of the original piece is available online so you could download it.)

I'd search non-conformist as well as other records for William's parents and grandparents, not least because you have a head start with the names of his maternal grandparents.

Good hunting.

Where have you looked?

Have you tried Googling "Dr Williams Library"??

I ask because this is what we would do first, and it helps to know what you have done, and found
