What is it about these big horse races that leads women to get themselves into such a state.

It seems that getting drunk and wearing dresses that are cut extremely low and extremely high are now de rigueur, at least on the Ladies Day. Ascot seems to get them every day.

It isn't only in Britain that it happens .......... I've seen some awful photos from Melbourne races.

The Queen did indeed look happy .... but she was around horses so she probably enjoyed herself thoroughly.

I have never been to Ascot but both of my children have entertained clients there on behalf of their employers even though they are not into horses. Both brushed up well, one had no alcohol and the other had one glass ... they were working ... but what Sylvia wrote about the other side of Ascot is right.

Until this year one of my cousins and a bunch of her female friends visited for several years, dressing up and 'acting the part.' :-D

Not that much more class and style if you look at the people away from the Royals who do indeed show a lot of class, even the young ones ............

Meanwhile, other attendees puking in the streets, downing champagne and other alcohol as if it had gone out of style, staggering around.

That's the other side of Ascot!

You might not realise but a lot of the young ones do have jobs, and can take days off ......... albeit probably more days than most people because of what they are worth in other ways to the places who employ them.

I have been to Ascot a few times but the Royal wave never appeared. Too many Americans in my way.

No one interested then ? A lot more style & Class than Grand National at Aintree but why so many Royals do they not have jobs Senier ones fare enough .How much must it cost for all the pomp and Carriages .Does the family pay for it themselves ;-) :-D Barbara
