My 'stalker' is fond of rr'ing on the 'daily' threads Rose, you can't get less controversial than those LOL Probably the same person who reports smiley faces :-S

Island, not four in one day but I have had a couple of posts reported, surprisingly. It would not put me off the site so someone would be wasting his/her time.

No, I don't believe I would think differently. As I wrote, I have a particularly thick skin - developed over the years through work, in particular OH's and bro's occupations. It takes all sorts, doesn't it! :-D

Thanks Island, I did wonder if a couple of posts would go or not.

I think some people's threads are watched more closely because the OPs do tend to be a bit more controversial. Probably people see my name and just drop off to sleep lolol. :-)

JoyL, have you had inoffensive posts reported four times in one day, inc 3 on the same thread? I think you would feel differently if you had.

Btw...…. I'm not offended by any of the posts, just the spiteful reporter.

Island Report 9 Nov 2019 12:55

Rose, I think you've missed my point.
It's good to have some lightweight/trivia - especially with the current climate ;-) Please don't even think of removing your thread.

I was referring to whomever is in the nasty habit of reporting innocuous posts but seems quite accepting of 'arse' here and, did Rollo get away with 'bollocks' elsewhere?

Why should some of us be reported for the odd 'naughty' word and not an eyelid batted at several others? Spite? It sure looks personal to me.

There are phrases here, I don't know, and wouldn't use myself, but perhaps my fault for asking?

Doolally tap and Mugwump have 'legitimate' origins. Likewise " many a mickle makes a muckle" I believe? One which my mum used a lot.

But again if anything offends, whether said by me or someone else, just let me know. :-)

JoyLouise Report 9 Nov 2019 12:36

Rose, I have a particularly thick skin so I can't imagine what would offend me.

I have a feeling that Island did not mean you. :-)

Island, it wasn't my intention to offend anyone.

Please anyone/everyone say if anything here does offend and I will happily delete. It was just a trivial post about some of the phrases I/we grew up hearing, and still use in random moments of exasperation , and never to be used for people with any disability or learning difficulties etc. I hope that goes without saying? If it doesn't I will certainly remove the thread!

There's a shop not far from me called The Mugwump, Sylvia. It's been around since the 60s and still seems to be going strong. :-D

My father's worst description about politicians was to call him/her a "mugwumps"

Asked what he meant, he explained ...............

he sits on the fence with his mug on one side and his wumps on the other
