Or, members of the British herd will survive and have some immunity and they won’t want to travel to places where many people avoided the virus at the beginning and are still likely to get it later.

For the Archbishop :-P

I'm guessing in the future they might include it in a routine blood test to see if you've had it maybe? Every poor person getting just a regular head cold right now is worried....

Linda, the stats will be way out and a factor of X will be built into the working group figures. I read in Wales that for every confirmed case there is probably 5 - 8 times the published figure. Fortunately many will have mild - moderate symptoms.

I might be a bit thick so excuse me if I am but I'm going to ask the question anyway we have been told that if we have a fever or a dry cough we are to self isolate but not get in touch with doctors, hospital or 111 in that case how are the government get a proper number of how many people have really got it so maybe we will never know how many had when it's all over just a thought :- :-(

It's all OK, the Archbishop here has said you can't possibly get the virus at holy communion because it's blessed. The president has gone on TV and laid out new rules and told us to look to religion for help. :-S

and they are in charge :-0

I live to the east of London and there is normally a constant stream of aeroplanes going to Heathrow and Gatwick on the west side, also planes that have taken off from The City Airport.....today it is eerily quiet :-0

Cyprus is restricting travel to here and it looks like UK flights may stop or be greatly reduced - Jet2 have already said they won't bring out anymore tourists for the time being and will just repatriate those already here.

Easy Jet are saying they won't charge people if they want to change flights.

Joy ................

I'll keep my fingers crossed for your bestie and her husband.

Canadian government announced today that no cruise ship carrying more than 500 passengers will be allowed to enter a Canadian port until July. Ferries are also affected.

I am with you Sylvia as far as delayed closing is concerned.

Boris has also said 'from next weekend' about closure of gatherings. Why not now? It makes more sense to do so without delay to avoid further risk of spread. I feel the same about schools as he stated 'not now' and I have heard from a couple of sources that they will be closed two weeks before normal Easter holidays - which is next weekend! In the meantime, the spread will continue.

Sylvia, my bestie and her OH are on a Caribbean cruise at the moment. I have texted her twice and got no reply so I am keeping my fingers crossed that they are OK. I have seen no reports to the contrary.

sooooooooooooo ..................

daughter is having to return early from Florida IF she can get tickets for Tuesday.

DisneyWorld is closing on Monday ....... I question why not NOW?

Other attractions will be closed.

Husband and son have already been told to quarantine themselves as soon as they get back to Canada, she has yet to find out what she has to do.

She calls it her Disney curse ......... we had to cancel taking her to Disneyland in California way back when when there was a major gas crisis down there, with long lineups at gas stations and many shootings.

Now this.

I absolutely love Twitter at the moment - Piers Morgan (yes him) railing against Boris and Lord Sugar telling him to shove off :-D :-D :-D

Everyone knows Piers and the vile Burley know better than experts - they are whipping up discontent bordering on hysteria and they really ought to shut up. They are in the privileged position of being able to pass on advice to the masses and instead they just abuse their highly paid jobs.

I shall be carrying on drinking tap water.

My son rang me yesterday to say the supermarket was out of painkillers ( no surprise) but also chocolate and Kroninberg. How will we cope :-D

Caroline

Caroline Report 13 Mar 2020 16:10

Well, after saying yesterday all public schools would close for 3 weeks after today, Uni and Colleges are also closing for now and doing work online where possible. This before we've had cases in any of them....makes sense being proactive.
In the grocery stores, I can confirm no one likes canned sweet corn it's the only canned veg left :-) I was there for my normal twice-weekly shop...I'm feeding 5 adults 2 of whom have hollow legs we get through a lot of food...so worse case we'll eat less and lose some weight.

As for tap water our water is more than good enough to drink unless you have old lead pipes which most of us don't. We do have a filter which is more likely to be an issue if you don't change it regularly enough than just drinking from the tap....the filter is part of the fridge I wouldn't have it otherwise.
