Does it mean you were at their bedside or just in the house at the time whether you lived there or visiting?

I have always thought it meant in the same room when the person died .

I'm with JustGinnie.

I thought it meant that the person notifying the registrar was with the deceased at the time of death.

I've always thought it meant exactly what it said.

I was present at the death of my Mother and my
Mother in law.

Have to agree with others and my thoughts are that the person present was in the room at the time of the passing.
