Do you have last years email with the receipt that they sent?

They will also have sent a message to your in box.

That would at least prove how much you paid. Not that you should have to do that.

Not good at all Kim. Keep on at them if you can bear it.
A few years back they were giving discounts and I queried why I hadn't had one as it was around my renewal time. Oh no, this offer had run out.
I renew in June, they gave discounts to members who were renewing in May, then again in July!!!! Fist through computer screen time.
They must be bored and play 'let's see who we can rattle today'

Well what a shambles this site has become!!

Yes since 2003, apart from the other year when my card had expired but I change details and paid immediately. Even on my my account it says 'Continous Member since 2003'

Namelessone, no I wasn't contacted to say it had been incresed they just took the money!!

I renewed in May and before I did I got an email from Genes saying they were having trouble renewing my membership probably because my card had expired or been changed. Neither was the case but I'd had the same trouble the last few years and so had paid by cheque instead. This year I couldn't do that as no one was working in the office because of Covid so they said they wouldn't be able to process my cheque but I could pay be Paypal.

I don't have a Paypal account but my son said he would pay with his. However the email I got said the price was £17.96 for 12 months. I wrote back saying - "I notice that it was mentioned in the email that the standard subscription is £17.96p but I and other long standing members were told that our subscription could continue at £8.96p."

They then said that they couldn't alter the payment paid but if my son paid the full amount of £17.96 they would refund him £9 making the payment £8.96. I must say they refunded the amount the very next day, so it is always worth asking.

They did that to me a few years ago and said it was because I had taken up some offer of theirs that gave me temporary access to more records I think. It was something like that and they said taking up the offer had made a break in my subscription so I had to pay as if I had a new subscription the next time my renewal was due.

Kim, this is a bit odd that they should suddenly up your sub from £9 a year to £17+ (?) for ?
Have you been on continuous paid membership since your very first sub or have you had a break from paid membership?

I completely understand your frustration with their poor/non existant communication skills.

The T & C's say they must ell you they are making changes.

I got an email reply from a Jamie who has advised this is the automatic renewel payment!!

I have asked that I receive conformation that this will be the cost from now on, I have only ever paid £9 a year in past

I’ve only ever had automated responses on the subject of subscriptions. Most of them didn’t fit the query and made little sense

They do say that they will respond in 3-5 business days ........... that means Mon to Friday, ca 8 or 8:30 am to 4 or 4:30 pm.

I firmly believe that there is now only 1 person who responds to GR emails at any particular time, not always the same one.

Also, their staff are presumably not all back in the office ............ maybe none of them are in the office but working at home.

As stated several times, GR is the poor cousin of FMP!

Sent 2 emails to them asking why my renewel fee was £17.96 and they can't even reply to either of them.

So wish the old staff were still there, Estell would have responed immediately
