I suppose that many people will be glad to see the back of 2020.

I'll just be glad to see the back of this month which has not been how I envisioned it to be earlier in the year ! :-|

It has been a nightmare of a month.

And there's still five days left.

I couldn't agree more about 2020, Allan :-0

You couldn't write a book if you tried :-0

I do hope that things start to get better for you soon, Allan <3

I do know that very many people would say, 'I'll gladly swap my problems for yours,' and in the overall scale of things they would absolutely correct.

I live in a State of Australia that has imposed strict closure of internal borders with all other States, a move most West Australians, including myself, are in agreement with.

Compared to many countries in the world, within West Australia we enjoy an envious amount of movement both to travel and to socialise, but when the little niggles start common sense and a sense of perspective tend to fly out of the window.

I do sincerely hope that October at least does not become worse than this month.

Rant over!

You've been lucky, Allan. Your state government did the right thing in closing borders, in my opinion.

I'd be surprised if schools here opened after the autumn half-term break judging from the number of schools where covid has been found.

I hope I'm wrong!

Allan ........... I believe that Australia has done the right thing.

We've done much the same here ................. international land border with US closed, except for Emergency services. Restrictions for residents returning or visitors coming from overseas, with 14 day quarantine enforced. Most provinces require a 14 day quarantine if you enter from another province. Then you require a 14 day quarantine when you return to your own province ................ so a week's holiday needs 5 weeks in total.

Schools are back, but not entirely. Post-secondary education largely on line

BUT we are safe.

It is a long weekend here in WA as well as the start of the school holidays.

OH and I went to a lunch at the local Secondary Collège training restaurant. The traffic was horrendous as the College is just off one of the main routes south.

By the time we eventually arrived I reckon that I had taken the equivalent of several stress tests due to traffic and OH's driving :-|

On the positive side, the lunch, held to give two catering students an annual award presented by our Lodge, was excellent and for $30.00 a head, well worth it.

I couldn't help but compare it to a lunch we had at a Winery down near Margaret River at the beginning of the month which cost us $85.00 a head. In fact there was no comparison.

The meal served at the training restaurant was far superior in quality, quantity and service.

I know that apart from covering the costs of the food etc the college has no overheads such as wages, rates, insurance and so on, but I would gladly have payed $100.00 for yesterday's lunch.

Perhaps a change is in the wind ;-)

Having seen the very sad news regarding Sue Knight, suddenly everything has gained its correct perspective.
