Oh goodness, I am more confused than ever today.

The ones I thought were good last week, did not do so well last night.

I shall resist looking for the spoiler and see who was booted off, but it could be Jaimie or Ranvir.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 13 Dec 2020 08:55

Is that because you think he is better than Maisie Linda or because you think the public like him better? It also does depend I think on how they both dance on the night (if they are both through).

Did anyone notice how alike her sister was to Maisie?

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Dec 2020 08:49

I think there is a clear distinction between Hrvy, Maisie and the rest.
I think Ranvir and Jamie will be in the bottom two. If so,I think that Jamie stands more chance of getting through.

A s for the final result, it has to be Hrvy for the winner

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 13 Dec 2020 08:09

As usual I agree with LBelle. Loved Maisie's dances, and Ranvir's waltz but her jive was a big disappointment she seemed unable to 'let herself go' quite wooden in places.

I liked the ho down aspect of Jamie's dance but it should have been marked as a quickstep which to me it wasn't, entertaining though.

HRVY I liked both his dances, OK I can't judge the Rumba but it looked good and he looked good too.

Bill, entertaining as usual but, although it was strangely effective, he should have chosen different music for the jive. Semi finals is not the time to choose music that is your favourite.

Seems to be between Ranvir, Bill and Jamie for the dance off but then it will depend on their dances. I have a feeling that the judges choose, maybe they take the best scored dance of each, there must be a standard procedure to avoid being accused of favouritism.

LondonBelle Report 13 Dec 2020 07:04

Well, sadly it wasn't Ranvir's night. Her waltz was lovely but the jive :-0 :-0. I think she is the opposite to Jamie she excels with the contact dances but feels a little lost and far less confident when she dances side by side :-D

Talking of Jamie was his second dance really a quickstep :-0. Enjoyable to watch but really :-0. Another example of Jamie not having too much contact with his partner :-0

I think Bill did ok but didn't have that wow factor required at this stage :-(

What a difficult dance the Rumba is for the male celebs and I thought HRVY made as good an attempt as any of the male celebs could have made :-) Loved his Charleston :-D.

Then that leaves Maisie who excelled in both her dances :-D

I think if Ranvir is in the dance off she is out, unless she is allowed to dance her waltz. :-0

Do the Judges or the Dancers get to choose which dance they will do in the dance off
:-S

Others for the dance off are Jamie and Bill :-(

I wonder who the public will save :-0

OMG, poor Amy <3.

Thank you for that Mr M..... I'll finish watching that later :-)

What a fighter <3

The BBC programme about Amy and Crohns.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000njmn

It must be very difficult for her at times.

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 8 Dec 2020 08:32

I had no idea about Amy either. The poor girl, she must be in agony at time. I too know someone who has Crohns and they suffer!

We guessed it would be JJ to go, and I think it will be Jaimie next.

I agree, HRVY to win, Ranvir second and Bill third.

Kay

Kay Report 7 Dec 2020 23:16

LondonBelle and AnninGlos. There was a story in the "Entertainment" paper that she had to stop practice once for an afternoon and went to hospital with an "episode" and was prescribed antibiotics and painkillers and went straight back to practice when she was discharged (which is probably what J.J. was referring to in his comments when he was voted )off because she said she was concerned that J.J. might suffer with less practice if she rested.
I agree LondonBelle, she never goes OTT whatever her scores are but she was crying on Sunday when they were voted off. I just hope she doesn't feel it was her fault, bless her heart.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 7 Dec 2020 08:16

I didn't know that about Amy either. Horrible thing to suffer from, I have two friends whi have it. One is the daughter of a good friend, same age as our daughter and we have known her since birth. She is still running marathons even though suffering.

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 7 Dec 2020 06:29

Well, it was a toss up between the two.....I think Jamie will struggle big time with having to do two dances next week :-0

I didn't realise that about Amy, Kay.....I like her too as she is not as 'gushing' as some of the others <3

Bring on the Semi's :-D

Kay

Kay Report 6 Dec 2020 23:27

I didn't like the music Jamie danced to and felt he wasn't in time with it.
I'm just pleased that at long last someone (J.J.) commented on how much Amy struggles, without comment or complaint. She's suffered with Crohns disease for years and has had many operations and is frequently in pain, yet she soldiers on, bless her. I really like her and I'll miss her now J.J's gone but I'm definitely not sorry to see him go.

Just "written up" my notes from last night.
Quite a few dances, including the Samba, V. Waltz and Samba have had few few couples dancing them (so far).
However - Ranvir and Giovanni are the only remaining couple not to do The Jive.

J.J and Amy are the only remaining not to have done the Cha Cha Cha.

Both of these dances have been in the dance off twice!

I wonder if they are both go through to next week if they will have to do these dances.

Island

Island Report 6 Dec 2020 10:58

Dancing aside.......

Why does Claudia start her comments with 'I mean'?

Why do Claudia and Tess say 'thurr jud-jerrrs'?

What an annoying pair they are. Bring back Brucie ;-)

Bill's been my favourite all along. As well as dancing skills he shows his personality which none of the others do.

Hrvy to win with Ranvir runner up.

I'm afraid I just don't like Jamie and Karen. They're like a couple of overgrown and annoying little boys. No wonder he doesn't take the lead. They need to go tonight.

JJ put me in mind of Tommy Tune with those never ending legs.

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 6 Dec 2020 10:17

Right time for my tuppenny worth! :-D

I thought the dance with HRVY was spectacular! They certainly went to town.

Ranvir was again, very light on her feet, and very graceful.

JJ I think is struggling a bit now, and maybe the one to go.

Bill, I dont think there was enough footwork, although the overall dance was very striking and he held his own.

Jaimie, I was not too keen on his dance. There is too much jumping around in his dances, rather actual contact.

So I agree, maybe JJ and Jaimie in the dance off.

Nice to see you back Tess. <3

Edit. I forgot Maisie! She certainly puts a lot of effort into her dancing.

TessAkaBridgetTheFidget

TessAkaBridgetTheFidget Report 6 Dec 2020 09:32

I have been watching, and enjoying Strictly. I am ok thanks, just caught up doing other things instead of coming on Genes.

In the first weeks of the thread I said that I thought that Clara was very good and I had high(ish) expectations of her. However, i agree that her last two dances were not good at all, I think that one "bad dance" can be forgiven but two in a row is a bit worrying. So although I was sorry to see her go, I know that it was the right decision.

When Caroline went she had done the Ch Cha Cha, not so much danced it as done a skit of it IMHO. She had said that she knew how to do comedy and would teach Johannes. I was surprised at how well it all went donw with the judges. I like the "comedy turn" but didn't rate the dancing.

Bill came as a complete surprise to me, he has shown that he is a very talented man. I've loved watching him and Oti, but I think that the last two weeks he has (sort of) run out of steam. The Argentine Tango was a difficult dance for him, but he did manage to show off Oti's skills very well, giving her good support.

I can't comment on Maisie's dance this week because my tv went off!!! for around 5 mins. i.e. all through Maisie's introduction and dance. I had I press buttons and wait, and wait and wait ... eventually came back on (phew). I checked on my recording but that had turned off too. It recommenced after the dance. I did though hear the applause (which was terrific).

Ranvir was terrific, a moving performance. I hope that she gets through again. On "Takes Two", Friday, ALW said that she would be the one to go!

Jamie, still good to watch, but perhaps more of an interesting performance than a dance. (I am not a dancer at all so can't judge the dance steps, posture etc). Although I enjoy watching him, I wouldn't be sorry to see him go.

JJ and Amy. I think that he has improved an awful lot. He is much better than in the early weeks, in fact much better than I expected him to ever be. In the past I have thought that he might be (slightly) over marked in comparison to the others on the night. This was certainly not the case last night.

HRVY well, he was wonderful!! I did think that I saw him go off balance for a mini moment, but he soon recovered. Perhaps the was the "hat incident" which I seem to have missed. Just hope enough people voted for him to keep him out of the dance off. Hats off to HRVY!

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 6 Dec 2020 08:54

I thought that JJ, Bill and Jamie were the weaker ones last night, probably two of them will end up in the dance off, but I don’t know which two.
I think Jamie needs to be given some ballroom dances, he seems to have got away with not doing them just to keep him in.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 6 Dec 2020 08:23

Belle I agree with you as to the dance off, although there is always room for surprise. I did like HRVY and Ranvir's dances. In fact she has been a total surprise. Maisie as usual was good but it made me exhausted to watch her :-D

Tess has not been commentating the last couple of weeks, hope she is OK.

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 6 Dec 2020 07:16

Well they are all upping their game :-0

The dances I enjoyed the most were Ranvir and HRVY :-D

Maise was very good but you would expect that from her someone with her previous experience :-)

So for me that leaves Bill, JJ and Jamie who all did dance well but not as good as the others :-)

The problem I have with Jamie is that he doesn't like the dances were he has to hold his partner and lead; I know he did the Tango last week but the only other dance was I think in week1 :-0.

Bill did I think better with the Argentine Tango because he had to lead :-D

Again JJ did well but there were elements that where left out possibly due to his disabilities and I thought it lacked the speed but again possibly due to his disabilities :-
(

For me I think it should be Jamie & JJ in the dance off with Jamie to go :-(

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 30 Nov 2020 05:49

I think Clara's dance was better last night but still in places it didn't flow properly and out of the two I think she was the correct Celeb to go :-(

I did like the choreography of Jamie's dance :-D

So next week is Musical Week.....one of my favourite weeks :-D
