Thought they'd both danced better in the dance off, nevertheless the right result :-)

Island Report 8 Nov 2020 13:39

I haven't caught up with all of last nights prog yet - recorded for 'bite size' viewing.

I must admit, I thought Bill was going to be one of the 'joke' contestants and was pleasantly surprised. He is, of course, a musician so no trouble keeping time but so light on his feet too. The boy's no slouch! :-D

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 8 Nov 2020 13:11

Bill really is a wonder isnt he? Even managed a bit of guitar strumming too.

Not keen on Jason's Star Wars. HRVY's gnome dance, Jaimie's charlston or Carolines dance.

I thought JJ and Ranvir were very good.

Still it is up to the Great British Public. But maybe a dance off between Jaimie and Jason.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 8 Nov 2020 09:44

I think that Jason an d Luba will definitely be in the dance off, he didn’t dance well at all.
I didn’t like Nicola and Katya’s dance, so she could join them as the judges didn’t score them well.
If I have guessed the dance off correctly, it would be Jason going,

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 8 Nov 2020 07:50

Agree with both these, The star wars dance was uninspiring, Loved Maisie's and Ranvir's, Bill is good but somehow I didn't actually like the dance (it suited him though), And Caroline;s was good too. They are all improving though, not so keen on Nicola's dance this week.

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 8 Nov 2020 07:03

I enjoyed it too, Kay :-)

There are a few coming to fore that have have surprised me :-)

The one that I really liked last night was Ranvir and her take of Dream Girls. I thought she looked the part and danced it so well...a real surprise :-D

Maise did well again but I think that was expected... that's the problem if you're good at the beginning the expectations are higher :-0

The others I liked were JJ, thought the choreography was just right, and Bill, he is surprisingly light on his feet just needs to sort out his upper body :-D

I too think Jason will be in the dance off with perhaps Caroline.....but Jason to go :-(

Kay

Kay Report 7 Nov 2020 23:26

Enjoyed Strictly again this week. There's been a lot of improvement in all the contestants. I think the Star Wars dance was the worst. Maybe they'll be voted out this week.

I don’t think it is particularly to do with being a novice. Sadly some people don’t have any sort of natural rhythm and would never improve no matter how many lessons they had. I don’t mean that in a nasty way, it is just down to Biology. A bit the same as singing, I am just about tone deaf , you really wouldn’t want to hear me :-)

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 2 Nov 2020 07:50

Yes it was the right choice, she didn't seem to be going to imptove at all. Don't think Anton was bothered or surprised. There are a lot of good dancers in there for this stage of the show.

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 2 Nov 2020 06:42

I watched the results show on catch up.....the right choice made :-)

In a way though I feel very sorry for those that are true novices like Jacqui as they really don't stand a chance as a couple of weeks isn't enough time for them to show their true potential :-(

Still that's the format of the show and always has been :-D

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 1 Nov 2020 12:35

Yes Maisie and HRVY are both good and both didn't diappoint with ballroom. Bill was a surprise as has been said I liked Nicola's dance as well and I do think Jacqui should go but Anton has his followers. James (is that the one from last year) I didn't think was that good, maybe he is at risk. I hope it is not one of the better ones who goes tonight.

I wonder if Craig is being more kind because his sparring partner is not there?

I did read this morning that Strictly had two minutes warning of going on air because of the awful confusion of Boris and his will he won't he appear for his speech. very bad manners on the part of the politicians and scientists. Half the country waiting three+ hours for a speech that has already been leaked.

MotownGal Report 1 Nov 2020 12:10

I enjoyed last night's show.

All of them tried their best, but some weren't as good as others.

Poor Caroline did not do quite as well as last week, but last week's dance obviously suited her better. Jacqui was being guided around by Anton, I think the feathers were a mistake to put too many things into the mix.

The two youngsters Maisie and HRVY have the advantage of, well, youth, and really went for it. They were good. Hope they dont peak too early.

Bill was a revelation. Good for him. Even if he does not last the course, I think he did brilliantly for a novice. He had lots of gusto.

Craig has not done his withering look yet..........give it time. :-D :-D ;-)

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 1 Nov 2020 10:02

I fell asleep before the end :-(

I didn't see Nico!a or Caroline :-0

I think Craig although critical is not, at least not at the moment, as critical as he can be :-D. Sometimes I have found him to be a bit too critical of absolute novices at this stage in the past which must be very deflating :-)

Maisie was very good as you would expect and HRVY who both seem to be head and shoulders above the rest :-)

I wasn't too keen on Clara's Viennese Waltz more because of the choreography than anything else...to me this Waltz is light and fluffy not dark and heavy but that's just my opinion :-)

The surprise for me last night was Bill's Quick Step, I thought for a novice he carried it off rather well :-)

I too think Jacqui should go...she had improved, a little...bless her :-D. Sadly, not as much as the other novices though :-). You never know the public might keep her in for the novelty effect...afterall, it has been known in the past;-)

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 1 Nov 2020 09:44

I thought Bill Bailey did surprisingly well last night.
I think that Anton will definitely be going tonight

Kay

Kay Report 1 Nov 2020 00:02

I did enjoy my weekly dose of Strictly tonight and thought everyone did well.

My problem now is that I'm so distracted by judge Shirleys new teeth that I can't concentrate on what she's saying. Guess when she gave up the new boobs last year she had to decide what she'd have work done on next.

Yes I miss AJ Pritchard as well. Good to see Gorka back though.

Dear All

Hello

There is nothing like Strictly Come Dancing to lift your mood, particularly as we head into winter.

I thought Nicola and her partner were terrific.

I remember when Nicola won her gold medal at the Olympics in 2012.
When Gary Lineker she was so shy. It took a lot of hard work for her to get the recognition as a boxer.

I am looking forward to watching the rest of the series.

Take gentle care
Love Elizabeth, EOS
xx

Kay Report 25 Oct 2020 23:55

I love Strictly and it was so good to see it on again yesterday. They socially distanced very well, but that'll just be another course for stress for them all-as if it's not stressful enough.

I only know 3 people-Bill Bailey, Maisie Smith and Caroline Quentin. Bless her, she did get so emotional. I should imagine Maisie Smith could be quite a little madam (as my Mum would have said) . I haven't watched Eastenders for years and she was just a small child last time I watched.

I must admit I do miss looking out for AJ Pritchard who I loved in the past series.

I'm looking forward to next weeks "dose of normality" where we can get engrossed and forget our problems to a certain extent for an hour and a half!

TessAkaBridgetTheFidget

TessAkaBridgetTheFidget Report 25 Oct 2020 23:36

Enjoyed the show. Thought that they did well with the Social distancing.

I was not impressed with Jason Bell, ( even though he is a very good looking). Hoping that he will surprise me next week. Perhaps my expectations were too high.

Was very surprised by HRVY, hadn't had high expectations of him at all.

Looking forward to next weeks offering.

Have thrown away some of my old Scrictly notes. Now just have records going back to 2017.

Every week i note -

The order everyone dances, the dances they do and the scores they get, on one page.

Then every dancer 9and partner0 has their own page, noting what they do each week and the scores they get.

Also have a separate sheets for each dance 9filled in every week0 noting who does the dance, and the scores given.

Just something to keep my brain working.
