In the far distant past, I spent a day in a factory, putting the walnuts on the top of walnut whips :-S I was allowed to eat as many as I wanted.
Shame I like nuts, and I like chocolate, but I don't like them combined :-(

The next day, I was putting 'hundreds & thousands' on mallow cones.
Unfortunately, eating one of those took quite a time, so I didn't get the time to eat any :-(

Then I left! :-D

Grand daughter bought me a box of Thorntons Chocolates.
To be fair, I was with her, and being a scrooge, was showing her how those with the fanciest Christmas packaging were the worst value.

Recap: I allowed my grand daughter to buy me a box of Thorntons Chocolates, in a non 'Christmassy' box. :-D

Next Christmas I shall be buying Thorntons chocolates and other higher quality stuff.

They were definitely the best value - loose, not in little trays, no 'Christmassy' decor, but still delicious - still Thorntons :-)
Yes I have opened my chocolates and the wine :-D :-D :-D

Walnut whips used to have a walnut on top AND one on the bottom as well.

You could buy three flavours as well, vanilla, coffee and maple I think.

Plus plain or milk chocolate.

I was putting the walnuts on top in about 1971.
I don't know if they then put one on the bottom, or whether it was in the bottom, before the filling. I never ate them, as there were walnut bits in the filling, in those days.

Things probably changed when Nestles bought Rowntree (the original producers) in 1988.

Oh it was once upon a time.

Some time in the sixties I would think.
