Glad you've got the editing relatives issue sorted. I think others have explained the purple star issue better than I could have :-)

I'd remove the mobile number if I were you.

Choose the person with a purple star, and click on it, then hover over the white ribbon where it says (number) of tree matches.
Then click box that says 'view'.
You should either get a list of potential matches, or if there was only 1 on the ribbon, you might get a 'nil', presumably because that person has changed their entry.
The list will replace this forum/main page of GR, not the tree page which should be separate.

Are you a hereditary Freeman?

Right, I give up. What is FEW please?

As a matter of possible interest to you, I am a Freeman of the City of Oxford and a member of FEW

Martin, you need to click on the 'view' word in the ribbon that appears. This will bring up any possible matches here on the main site. You can then choose any you wish to follow up.

Kucinta,

Many many thanks. The number of times that I tried eveything to sort out the problem !

Another minor point you may be able to help with: A purple symbol appears on some relatives with a white number. When I click on Tree Matches, nothing happens !

Thank you,

Martin

I am researching the surnames HANKS and GARDINER, mainly relating to the Oxford area

Do you mean you can't access the button at the bottom to save? If so, you need to reduce the screen image by holding down the control button and pressing the minus button gradually until the save button comes into view, and then clicking on it.

You can restore text to previous size by holding down the control button and pressing on the + button.

Apologies if I have misunderstood the nature of your problem..
