Hi Linda, there's only my daughter that an get the meds for me, no immediate neighbours (I don't know them at all) & most of our friends have gone now & the few that are left are the same age as me & no longer drive ! fi Fingers crossed daughter can get out to do my grocery shop on Thursday! if so she will go to the chemist & get my pills, it all depends on the weather now. I will need some groceries by Thursday so I really hope she can get to town! I have tablets for tomorrow & wednesday.
It's been a while since we had as much snow as we have at the moment, though we usually get plenty of it once the house road has been cleared it doesn't usually fill up again too much like it has done this time !
I am praying the power stays on, the build up of snow / ice on the line can weigh heavy !!
Joan.

". . . according to the thermometer, the air is warm, so I don’t know why I still feel cold"
That's exactly my situation too, Linda!
Went to town for shopping , and am just back. Driveway and track still inches thick with snow; side road leading to main road hasn't been gritted, so there's still snow on it, churned into slush in places by cars, but no tarmac showing; then the main road is completely clear.
Supermarket carpark not cleared or gritted. The "parking" bits are still mainly white, and the "road" parts are black slush. Not nice for walking on.
The only trouble was when only 30 yards or so from home on the way back! By mistake I veered too far to the left on the track, and the left-hand front wheel went onto the verge - and then I was stuck! The wheels were spinning, and I couldn't go either forwards or back. Fortunately very kind neighbours dug and pushed me out. So close to home - I couldn't believe it!
Take care, everybody!
Perhaps your son-in-law will be able to have the use of the plough again before Wednesday, Joan. Fingers crossed.

Oh dear Joan, your meds situation doesn’t sound good. I hope that someone can collect them for you. I saw the snow up your way on the lunchtime news. The snow here is more on the coast and hasn’t come this far in land. It is just very cold, even OH is complaining about how cold it feels in the house. The radiators are all on and according to the thermometer, the air is warm, so I don’t know why I still feel cold. I also have an electric fire here in the lounge, so I can put that on as well if need be. Luckily all the schools round here don’t go back until tomorrow, so I don’t have to go out to do the normal reading this afternoon. We did go to the supermarket this morning, OH came with me as he was bored, The estate roads were like glass, but once we got onto the bus route, that had been gritted, so driving was fine.

Hi Florence. Yes normally she could but she's in the same boat as me re the snow, she couldn't get from her house to mine by car yesterday until her hubby got the use of the digger/plough, she had to walk to mine yesterday so as to clear the snow from the back door to allow access to me.
Today because of more snow through the night the house road is not accessible again, daughter phoned to say she had walked to the end of my road & it's filled in again, & her car is stuck at her house.
The town where the chemist is is too far away to walk to ( around 6 miles each way) too far to walk especially in these conditions, so until her car is freed she can't collect the meds or go anywhere..
I am really cross about the meds as I ordered them in good time before christmas so that they would be delivered before new year, they didn't arrive & when I phoned the chemist I was told they didn't have a prescription for them !! they provided me with an emergency supply but just afew days not the usual full amount !, they will run out on weds !
It has snowed on & off all day today & is now really deep all around the house, it is going to take a lot of shifting either by shovel or naturally !! I don't think I will see the Snowdrops this year ?

Good morning to you all, though it's far from good !! thanks for asking after me.
It's horrible here, more snow overnight, must be around 10 inches lying here, deeper in some parts around the house where the wind had blown snow around ! Daughter came over yesterday (she walked) & she cleared the blockage at my back porch door, then later on her hubby came over with a plough & cleared the house road, daughter then came back in her car & cleared some of the drive (which is at the back of the house) so as to allow anyone in a car or on foot can get to the house.
Between them they made it all accessable, but today it's as bad as ever, I can't see my meds being delivered ! The sun is shining just now but it's not going to shift anything , it's too cold.
Daughter is at her work this morning IF she got there, so I don't know if she or hubby will manage to re do all that they did for me yesterday. I hate snow !!
Take care & keep warm everyone.
Joan.

Morning all.
Schools are shut, no planes or public buses so nothing moving here!
My Tesco order for tom is in doubt as the mainland rds are awful and the main one for the lorries was closed last night.
I have enough for a few days just milk thats running out. But i have a tin of Marvel for emergencies.
AG yes once the temp rises, its warmer in the house. We used to have storage heathers back in the 90,s, so i get what you are saying.
Hope Joan is ok.
Everyone if you have snow, then stay indoors. keep warm and safe, no point taking any risks.

Re the storage heaters - I'm warm enough in the mornings and early afternoons, but in frosty weather, by late afternoon and in the evening, when the storage heaters have used up most of their nightly charge, then the house is cold.
When the temperature outside rises above freezing, then the house will also feel much warmer.

We are very snowed in here and not sure if buses or planes will run tomorrow.
The main roads are covered completely although gritters were out at 5pm.
Heating been on since 4 and warm enough now.
AG I used to wear my big fluffy fleece dressing gown over my clothes in the old rented house to keep warm with a fleece blanket over my legs and feet as it was Baltic in that house. One time i even went to bed wearing my dressing gown!
Joan, i do hope you get your meds and hope you are managing to keep warm.
Stay safe all

Minus 6 here tonight. The four inches of snow in my garden won't be melting any time soon! The garden doesn't get direct sunshine at this time of year, apart from about an hour in the afternoon, because of hills and trees.
Storage heaters on full; extra heaters plugged in and in use; thermal vest plus two warm jumpers, and fleece trousers - I'm still cold. Now going to put my long fleece dressing gown on top of all those clothes.
I hope your meds man makes it, Joan.

I hope that you manage to get your meds Joan.
It is so cold here, already minus one. I am pleased that it started to get dark, so that I could close all the curtains to try and keep the heat in. Even though the house is very well insulted and the heating has been on all day, it has felt cold.

We still don’t have snow here, but it is only going to reach the dizzy heights of one degree here, so I will be staying put.
We took down all the Christmas decorations yesterday, so all is back to normal. I do prefer the uncluttered look.
We went to see Jack and the Beanstalk at Harrogate theatre last night. It was a very good production and we all had a really good time.

Morning all....just
A few heavy hail/snow showers yesterday and through the night but not a huge a mount. It is bitterly cold and no desire to step outside!
Storage unit all built yesterday and full now of all things for crafting.
Pile of ironing is calling me so maybe that might get done, we shall see.
Off to be busy as many other things to catch up on.
Glad everyone ok but keep layered and keep cosy.
No ferries yesterday, today and tom are in doubt!

On top of yesterday's 2 inches, we have another couple of inches today. No wind, so it's lying thickly along every motionless twig. From the look of the sky, there's more to come.
The birds are enjoying berries on trees in the garden, and a red squirrel has just scampered past the window. Deer have been in the garden during the night, judging by the footprints.
Apart from shovelling a path to the gate, I'm not going anywhere today!

Oh my a LOT we got ! Much more snow for us through the night so I suspect the house road will be difficult to get along, & can see from the bedroom window some icicles. It's dull at the moment, no sign of an sunshine so far !

It is just bitterly cold here, just two degrees, no snow though. I spoke to my sister this morning, she is in Shropshire and they have a lot of snow.
I hope that you get your new washing machine soon Joan, it must be a real problem without it

Morning all.
We have more snow today, it must have been steady through the night & everything in the garden is well covered, looking out I can see around a couple of inches along the top of the garden wall.
Not enough to stop any movement along the house road yet but enough to put anyone off TRYING to get up it !! My daughter would manage atm but people like the Postie or H oil manny wouldn't try it !
Take care everyone.
edited to add.... More snow now, been coming down for a good hour so it's building up !

I hope you're not snowed in today, Joan.
Here in north Argyll, about 4cm fell during the night, and more this morning, though it's stopped for the moment. The clouds are thick and heavy, so there's probably more to come.
It looks beautiful now, like a Christmas card, but will likely freeze solid tonight.
I know it will have been worse in your part of the country.
ADDED: (An hour later) Now we have bright sunshine and blue sky! Whatever next?!
