It was worse than that!

The sling was always under him in his wheelchair but, when he was commoded, his bare bum would be sticking out of a big hole in the back of the sling and the four straps on the 'corners of it would be gathered together so he was dangling from two hooks above his head.

So, rather than a lovely garden swing, there would be a wrinkly old duck run poking out from a blue sling with yellow straps!

I've still got this picture of Fred on a flower garlanded swing ( roses obviously) being swung around by his handmaidens whist wafting away.

HELP!

I was reading something about talcum powder and it reminded me of something that happened with Fred and which somebody will probably rr but here goes anyway.

One of the many delights and indulgences in the life of Fred was to have his bum powdered by the carers after he had been on the commode. He evidently knew it was frowned upon in medical circles because he declined to have it done the day he went to hospital to have his cataract removed!

Anyway, he was on his hoist one day, with his cloud of foo-foo swirling about him and his handmaidens when the district nurse came in.

Naturally, she lectured him on the folly of his ways and warned him that, if he carried on, he risked having his willy drop off!

Should this have alarmed him, I ask myself.

He was 92 and catheterized at the time. What do you think?
