Does anyone know what name a person would use when they get married if they were adopted but knew their mmn?

If a child was born but the parents died and they were given up for adoption, once
they reached adult hood and they traced their birth relations, would they use their adoptive surname as their maiden name on a marriage cert or could they use their actual birth surname as their maiden name?

If it was a formal adoption then your legal.name is the adoption one. I suppose you could add an ‘also known as….’ using the birth name.
