No Gwyn, we only have a wheelie bin for our garden rubbish that has to be paid for and is emptied every fortnight. We do have bags for all the recyclable stuff but the gulls don't seem to be interested in cardboard boxes etc. Normal rubbish just goes out in black bags, no wheelie bins yet for that - but life is a bit slow down here in grey misty Cornwall!

Afternoon all. <3 :-D

Gwyn, I was speaking with a pal (around the corner) last week and she has been on the bus a couple of times recently.

On her last bus, the driver wore a mask as did the passengers who were sitting spaced out (!), when a young lady went to get on without a mask. The driver asked her where her mask was - it was in her pocket (fat lot of good that is!). She put it on before paying her fare. Whether mask-wearing is compulsory on buses in this area, I have no idea - but good for that particular driver.

Gndtr gets the tube and tells me that some wear a mask, some don't. She does so that was good to know.

One solution with seagulls is to put some diluted bleach in a spray bottle then spray the outside of the bags.

Susie,
We used to have big problems in this area too, when seagulls and / or foxes tore open the black sacks, so our council long ago changed to wheelie bins, which have helped a lot.
Some of the older parts of the coastal towns have a problem with nowhere to store 2 or 3 bins though.
I thought most places had changed away from black sacks now.

It was our bin day today and for the first time in months I had a worry free morning We are plagued by seagulls here who sit waiting for the black bags to go out before ripping them open and making a dreadful mess to be picked up. However we now have seagull proof heavy reusable bags so I was able to put ours out without standing guard. We even treated ourselves to smoked salmon at the weekend( it was on offer ) so I could put the wrappers out without triple bagging them to hide the smell.
LIttle things please little minds!

Afternoon everyone :-)

Another beautiful day in the sunny south east.... we are nearer the Equator, you see ;-)

Since we are comparing notes, Tuesday is our bin day, alternate weeks for landfill and recycling.
Today should have been garden waste collection, but that has been suspended for many weeks now due to shortage of drivers.

Excitement earlier. I went on the bus for the first time for 18 months since 1st lockdown.
Very few people, but I was the only passenger wearing a mask.

Afternoon all <3 <3 <3 :-D :-D :-D

Bin day is Friday for us. The normal general waste bin every week and the recycling every other week. I always remember when it is just the bin because my milkman comes for his money once a fortnight on a Thursday and the week he comes is just the bin ;-)

Starting to brighten up now after a bit of a grey start to the day.

The falling leaves drift by the window

Morning Von and Jem. <3 :-D

I am showing my ignorance, but I wouldn’t have a bleddy clue about our bin days.

All I do know is that the collections are staggered, one week garbage, one recycling, one garden waste.

I’ve only ever had to look up which collection week it was - when OH was in hospital. :-S
