MG…I was helping someone to do their family research and came across a death in Liverpool that I was curious about….the child being 8 years old. I found a piece in the local paper describing how she was getting ready for school and tending her siblings when her clothing caught fire…..she ran out in to the street where neighbours tried to put out the glames…she died several hours later :-( :-(

I know Belle…but a lot of rural areas,in Wales were without gas, electric indoor bathrooms and toilets.

I think I remember Mum saying that electricity was only connected after the war in our little patch :-)

We had some big metal contraption. With doors at the front, and a drawer at the bottom to collect the ashes. It burned coke.

If your leg touched it, you burned yourself really quite badly. :-0 :-0
