	Sad news, Island. I thought he must have been a happy artist as his paintings seemed to be always cheerful to me. RIP David Hockney.

	Sad news however he lived a good long life. I admired a lot of his work when we visited Salts Mill last year.

	88 Ann, I thought he was in his 90s He had something called synesthesia which might account for his wonderful .way with colours
