badger Report 10 Jun 2012 11:13

Morning troops ,from a soddon Newcastle where we ,after Brenda ,copped what was left of the stormclouds that made their way over from Wales ,wow ,not seen rain like this since i was in Aden ,lol, the drops bouncing at least 6 inches after hitting the ground,no wonder the damage over there in the West was so bad ,poor blighters :-(.In a couple of hours ,my half empty water butts were over flowing, the slugs ,snails ,and worms swimming for their lives, and i needed to wear wellies this morning to plodge out the back to the greeenhouse ,where the plants were ,looking smug ,in the dry .
Not a lot going on here today ,house work done and dinner on the go,Lamb ,Ham ,stuffing ,and the veggies
You keep away from the Pizza Brenda ,heart attack food ,alright for the young ones ,but no good for us older people ,lol, besides ,it won't help your diet ,all that cheese.
catch you later all ,Fred. :-D.

Evening all.well its wet and wild again this evening,Morning was not to bad, but, its got worse as the day went on.
I had changed the bedding this morning, but it looks like its going in the drier now. Had a half a pizza and coleslaw for tea, shared a large pizza with my son,as he said it was too big for hiin, but i was not that impressed.
Glad you are all impressed with the new shower,
Well its football everyday now for a month I don;t normally mind as long as it doesn't mean I miss any of my favourite shows.
Have a nice weekend Take care ,brenda

badger Report 7 Jun 2012 15:22

Afternoon Brenda ,and Dorothy ,who i'm hoping will be looking in :-).
My missus got her first of the new showers this morning ,and what a happy bunny she is ,lol ;-),decided to take her up a cuppa ,nudged the door with my toe ,and was greeted by clouds of steam ,he he ,looked more like a sauna than a shower.lol :-D & she says she had to turn it down because it was looking to blow her off her feet ,the shower was that strong :-D.
Hmmmmm ,i think i may well have trouble getting her out from under so that i can have a turn :-(.
I had a hell of a job ,up and down stairs with that ruddy panel ,nibbling bits off here and there so that i could slide it up under the pipes to get a snug fit.
I did it all in the greenhouse ,rather than outside because of the weather ,.using power tools in the rain is a no no ,not even on 110 volts ,you can still get a nasty shock at that voltage.
Anyway ,having got so far in there ,i swept the bench and floor after i had finished the cutting .got the paint out ,covered the bench with clean newspaper ,and did the first coat of paint in there as well, rain if you want why don't you :-P, i don't care he he.
The fella has been to see to the cooker ,and says it may have been a short to the cooker door because of the earthing being faulty ,but having checked ,he said no ,all was fine with the wiring ,and i said i know it is because i fitted it.
Anyway ,i have told him that at 7 months from new ,if it goes again ,i wan't the cooker changed as per agreement ,and i will be demanding such :-|.
A bit tired after up and down stairs nearly a dozen times in an hour to get the panel sorted,so i am having the rest of the day off , ;-).
I am going to do one of my favourite meals this teatime seeing as i was so busy i missed dinner ,Sausages ,mash and a nice meaty gravy, can't whack it :-D.
Catch you later troops.Fred. :-D

next week I am going to see my two new great nieces,I can get the tram to Altrincham which is the end of the line and my niece will pick me up ,lots of cuddles will be had that day !!
better get going as John is dropping me of and he has to be back for his brother coming to pick up the old car,
Take care Hugs Brenda

badger Report 6 Jun 2012 15:14

afternoon peoples ,not a nice day weatherwise again ,but the long range forecast seems to think this is the norm' for now ,and may last until the 14th mperish the thought.
The shower is in ,up and running ,and we have been down to B & Q to have the new bath panel cut,but like a twit i forgot the tube of silicone for the sides of the bath ,so it won't be anywhere near finished today :-( .
saw the news reel last night ,on about the price of food ,such as fish ,dairy products and meat was from Bury market ,taking me back a good bit to when we were last there ,but i think they did the shots before the market opened ,never seen that place open with about 6 people in camera shot ,def' a rabbit away there ;-).
Roll on tomorrow p m ,when we should get our cooker back online ,repaired ,and rarin' to go ,lol,we are both sick of having to do our cooking in the micro -wave or having to stoop to use the big oven ,ouch :-|.
Time i was sorting out something for the tea, something quick and tasty tonight :-D.
Catch you later all .Fred. :-)

Brenda Report 5 Jun 2012 20:22

Evening all.well Fred i think you are allowed to be lazy once in a while ,you never seem to stay still!!!
Glad the window sills are looking good and you are half way to getting your shower fitted.
I think i would have to lock the cat in the kitchen so she will not get you up so early,we have to lock our two out of our room otherwise they wake us up at un earthly times aswell.
we have enjoyed most of the jubilee weekend and think the Queen has done really well with all her walks and standimng about.
Have some letters to write to friends who do not have pcs.luckily i only send them on birthdays (theirs) so I had better get going.Take care Brenda

badger Report 5 Jun 2012 16:09

hi all ,been a lazy git and had most of the weekend off ,watching the tele and the concerts ,lol :-D.
The bairns got the window sills done for me ,and they look very good ,far better than the old .faded white that was on there ,and the eldest son was here yesterday and took the bath panel off for me ,and removed the glass shower panel ,which had to come off before the fella comes tomorrow to put the new shower in ;-).
I feel very tired lately ,i reckon all the early mornings with the pussy cat getting me up at 3 am has caught up with me good style.
suppose i had better go and feed her ,she is all over me like a rash ,he he ,catch you later all.Fred. :-D ;-)

Brenda Report 4 Jun 2012 12:22

Morning to all ,nicer here this morning and i am expecting my grandkids here today to paint my windowsills for me seeing as i can no longer get up a ladder.
16 th of next month for Liverpool and Southport Brenda ,hoping that the weather will be a bit better than it is at the minute.
We watched the doings on the Thames yesterday ,and the evening do from Windsor ,both very good despite the rain and have to say ,the queen is a game old bird ,standing for 4 hours ,it would have killed my legs in half the time .
us young'uns havn't got the stamina ,lol ,not like the old school.
Glad to hear that Dorothy had a nice birthday ,and all went well on the day,
Hope your new car does you proud Brenda ,it should at least be economical with the engine it has,at least :-D.
Mine has had it's yearly service ,lol, next time it goes in ,it will be for the M o T and changeover ,but i will have to have a look and see what is on offer,as the note i was thinking about is going to be withdrawn ,and i havn't seen it's replacement yet :-).
Liz is a lot better now thanks to the new steroids ,and anti bi's ,they should keep her active for a few more years ,with any luck :-).
Got a casserole in the slow cooker for dinner ,started at 6 am this morning as i had my first drink of the day outside with the cat, wrapped up a bit 'cause it isn't as warm as it should be :-|.
Talking of cats ,she ios round my legs wanting me to sit on the patio for my 11 se's ruddy little pest tells the time better than our clocks ,he he.
Catch you later peeps ,take care and enjoy the rest of the long weekend :-D :-) -).

badger Report 31 May 2012 17:02

afteroon all ,well ,here we are ,the start of the holiday ,and rain at last to water in all my new plants and herbs :-) ,the garden now finished ,and time to relax .
My new mint plants arrived yesterday ,and are now in the big urn near the patio table where we will get to smell them while sat at the table enjoying an ,al fresco meal in the sun ,anyway ,we now have ordinary mint ,peppermint ,apple mint.basil mint and Ginger mint :-D.
all that is left to plant is the winter cabbage ,and it's a full house out back ;-),so i can now relax a bit and get the front sorted ,which is more or less done too ,only weeding to do now ,and the barrels to fill right up as the potatoes grow on.
The mixer ,shower taps in the bathroom have gone phut Brenda ,he he and i am now looking at the options ,lol,it's either get a plummer in to take out the old taps ,and replace them ,or have a power shower put in ,both having draw backs, the expense of the taps and the plummer ,or the power shower needing taking off the tiles ,the side of the bath and the wiring needing put in prior to retiling, don't qiute which way to go yet ,so i am getting quotes for both options before deciding which way to go ,lol :-).
The missus is a lot better now she is on new tablets ,which she is not been taking for so long like the old ones ,and she is now responding well to treatment,so things are looking up.
Had a nice stuffed marrow for dinner, made with brown rice, chopped red pepper, onion, salt and pepper ,and a tin of skipjack tuna ,roasted in the oven along with roasted veggies ,very nice it was too.
For tea we will be having ,tomato and basil Paninies from Morrison's ,layered with emmental cheese ,sliced ,thin chicken, ditto red onions ,a thin layer of home made ham, another layer of cheese topped with tomato and a dash of sea salt.yum :-D.
Catch you later Brenda ,enjoy what's left of the holiday ,sounds brill' ,Fred.

Hope's you is enjoying your holiday Brenda ,llllloverly here this week ,sun ,sun ,and more sun :-D ,you could have saved your money and gone to the coast here ,lol, but i suppose ,a change of scenery will do you good ,anyway.
Had to take the wife to hospital as soon as i got back from Oxfordshire ,she was really ill on the way home.
The steroids over 4 years were no longer working as they should and the mucus in her lungs built up to the point that she couldn't get her breathe.
Anyway 24 hours on a nebulizer and a stronger steroid ,and they let her come home yesterday ,providing she sits and takes it easy,so i have told her ,if i so much as see her with anything in her hand other than a book ,or her lappy ,and i will take her back to the hospital :-|.
So far ,she is being good ,but i will be keeping a weather eye on her in case she gets any ideas.
work in the garden is slow because of the heat ,but i am about there ,all the brassica in apart from the winter cabbage ,all the beans in ,the new carrot and Pak Choi .and only the parsnip to go ,and i have a full house :-).
The sun has been and done the big hedge for me ,bless him ,giving me extra time to catch up on the lawns and weeding ,which will be up to date by next weekend.
Off to do the wife some tea now ,she fancies a toasty so i am doing a round and a half each of cheese, ham and sliced tomato& red onion.nice ,quick ,and easy. :-).Back tomorrow after i have seen to the watering early on ,take care all :-D ;-) xx

Hope it's somewhat warmer for you ,to get some hydro therapy on the bak and leg :-).
Still doing okay down here ,but i am fretting now for my little furry chum ,and wanting to be home ,of course ,i am missing my little garden too ,and am hoping that the warmer weather promised for this week will reach up north where it will be most welcome :-D.
Off out shortly to visit Witney town ,a nice little place with lots of shops ,and a good supermarket that i have told Sean about ,it will be a lot closer for him to go for his main shop, than Swindon.
Catch you later all. :-D :-)

Brenda Report 18 May 2012 19:59

Evening Fred,my you have been so busy again, putting us all to shame.
I am still in the middle of my sewing and ironing to get ready for my holidays on Monday.
Tomorrow i need to go to the cemetary as it is my mams birthday, then we are veiwing an apartment with Johns mam and step father,we saw it yesterday and thinks it just what hty need, but its up to them.
We had trouble getting rid of the packing from our furniture last month, and the cardboard went with the recyclinmg and the plastic and polytrene went in the normal bin,in three bags over three weeks.
better get a bit more ironing done.Take care
Brenda

badger

badger Report 18 May 2012 07:43

Morning Brenda ,nice morning here in sunny Oxfordshire ,where i am waiting for the bin men to arrive ,just to make sure they take all the cardboard off the packing .
We are going well so far ,house about straight ,and most of the tidying up done,so we took the day off yesterday and went to Oxfordshire on the bus ,but i wasn't impressed at all . :-(.
Lots of paper about on the streets ,vast areas in the city centre with no signposts to aid visitors to find their way around ,and sky high prices a miserable pasty ,supposed to be a cornish variety £3-80 ,what a rip off,Brenda ,give me Bath or Bury anytime ,where people are aided to find their way around without having to buy a map to do it 3 out of 10 Oxford ,and i am being generous. :-(.
Sean has now been made an instructor for the incoming erks and will not be going back to Afghanistan ,unless there is an emergency which is good news to me and the wife ,he won't be getting the allowance from it of course ,but as an instructor ,he will get flying pay for when he is up in the aircraft on duty ,so it isn't all bad.
It means too ,that we can come down once in a while and go and pay my respects to my uncles grave now ,which is better than taking the vase to West Wycombe so now his grave will have something on to show someone is thinking of him.
We wen't through to Westbury two days ago ,which confirmed that there is to be no headstone from his loving wife [not] ,but at least i found his one time shop and flat above which is now a computer shop.
Luckily the post box on the flat gate still has the name Barnes on it ,so i have my photo's for my records
We have to go to the next town down the road this morning to the recycle depot ,the council here will take all the cardboard from the packaging but won't take styrene foam out of the boxes ,which is crazy in a camp as big as a town ,with forces people in and out all the time but there you go that's councils for you ,encouraging fly tipping and then bemoaning about it when they have to go out and pick it all up out of hedgerows in the countryside :-(
Not to worry , i need to find a shop for a jar of green curry paste ,and coconut milk so that i can make tonights curry.
We are away home next Wednesday ,so that i can get my own place sorted out again ..
Catch you later all ,take care. :-D :-)
