Evening. Well, trimmed all the trees and bagged all the leaves for collection ta-morrow, and cleaned up around the outside of the hoose....I mean...House.... Sorry, cant seem to shake this Scot accent...lol Mind you, i did have trouble understanding a few peeps in Scotland with very broad Scottish vocals, but then a few didn't understand me neither!!! Had the same problem in parts of Ireland. Mary. Yes, Hotel from hell...hee hee I guess the standard, and what we get here in Oz for our $ is very different. Some of the B&B's in the U.K are very homely, friendly, and have a personal touch, and some of the guest houses also. But most of these places do not supply a bar fridge in your room, something which is standard in Oz. Many of the B&B's also do not accept credit cards, and will only take cash also i found. Trifley. When Barb was in Quebec a few years ago she found the french a bit the same, and also when she was in Noumea, she says.Perhaps, as someone said.....they never did forgive the poms for Joan of Arc.....lol Jill. We probably did pass your d. in Pall Mall, but as London streets are chocka's 24/7....it would have been hard to pick her out. I think London has the same population as Australia.....and walking down Oxford street if you dont walk into someone, or bump shoulders, then your not trying. 2am in the morning in London, is like peak hr rush in Melbourne. Barb made a comment, that at 2am in our city ( Melb ) you could fire a cannon ball up Swanston street and not hit a soul...LOL All in all,Singapore will always remain my favourite place to visit, as far as Citys and night life go.To me its one of the most cleanest and freindliest countries i have visited.( 8 times now ) The food is great( Asian or Western ) The Airline is tops. The Hotels are first class. The shopping is cheap as.Tropical atsmosphere, Value for money....plus the Ozzie dollar spreads a loooooong way....:>)) Tony Oz...:>)) ( sounding like a travel agent..lol ) |

hi all , have rushed through reading everything i've missed. I consciously tried to avoid the computer a bit today. i will have to wean myself off of family history for a bit. just checked out my timetable for next session and they've changed it. bum. i was sooooooo organised. i am still going to go to the casino in sydney on 12th though. it will be great to meet others who don't roll their eyes back in their head when f/h is mentioned if anybody is missing addreses for piccies, i cut and paste them onto a word doc. because it was getting hard going back looking. yell if you want them. i think there might be too many but you will recognise the ones you are after. Will there be anybody pole dancing in Sydney? Lyn , where is dil doing dip ed? my son's at uow finishing. hope he gets a job somewhere exotic (ish). I did tell some that we are the proud owners of 2 old volvo's. i'm not into car racing because most of the time it seems that cars are racing past me. Been trying to get OH to upgrade to a newer version A) so I can drive it B) because i'm stuck with mine for a couple more years at least. Youngest male child is cooking me a cake. had last night's left overs for tea and have 1 more week of no work. Am still getting about with bandage over head. the doctor said to leave it on 'til stitches come out. Can't wash my hair and it hurts to brush it. Lucky you didn't end up with a big bandage on you (on your bottom) Laurie. Hope you are right with the weather forecast Mary, I need to go camping this week. oh reckons it's a sure way to get it to rain. I'll try and get the brain happening with the word game. It's cuppa time and I'm going looking for photos love yvette |

Ah, Tony I remember as a child being taken up to London to see the lights at Christmas, this is going back about fifty years, and it was shoulder to shoulder then. It's funny how you take the crowdieness (is that a word)? for granted, but after living in Brissie for almost thirty years before I made my first visit back it was a bit of a shock, all those people all in a rush, my oh and I tried once to walk against the homeward crowd on Tower Bridge we gave up till the tide had passed. Enjoyed your photos and I may tell the story one day of our B&B from hell in Wales, no thats a bit harsh, it was so awful it was funny. luv Jillx |

Hiya Joy...:>)) Me.... Essex. Naaaaah....well maybe pehaps Aussex...lol, but do have about 8 generations of blood line running through me veins. I often think It would have been interesting to have heard my grandad talk ( being born there ) though. Shame i never got to meet him. Visited the pub where he was born in 1875, last year in Earls Colne, and Barb took a piccie of me standing outside the pub. Dont tell no one......but i did 'Aquire' an empty beer bottle that was stacked at the back of the pub, and it sits on my bar at home.A 6th cousin ( living in Romford ) and i also 'Aquried' some apples that just happened to be growing on a tree next to the pub. So we took them to her house and she made me an Apple pie out of E'm.....Yum.( Bonus ) Jill. I found getting around London was easy, once i worked out the train system. We stayed two min walk from Russell Square, so were very close to London City. Must admit though, one night we took a wrong Bus trying to get back to Bloomsbury and ended up on our way to Bethnal Green....lol... before i realised. But that makes a holiday more fun, and something to remember. Tony Oz...:>))) |

Thanks Oh great one for getting back to me . . . I have just talked to Lara on the phone - she sends her love to all. They are at Mission Beach, so if you see a news report of a lady on Mission Beach with a mission to use her puter for a rocket you will know it is Lara at her wits end. I think the mission at the moment is to go to the internet cafe and clear her overloaded mail box, and get on to the wattle thread to get a dose. Will catch up with you all tomorrow - cheers luv Laurie |

Goodnight all Off to the coast tomorrow - I'm sure Trifley will say hello to you all from me after she has seen me on Wednesday. Then on Thursday, I'll be seeing some of you at the casino - should be great. Poor Lara - I can sympathise with her withdrawal symptoms from not having her puter. Hope you get it sorted soon Lara. Tas - your friend was right about our water restrictions - we are going on to level 5 next month - can't use any water outside at all then. Think of me lazing around over the next few days, hitting the crafty shops and the coffee shops at Mt. Tamborine and going for long rambles through the rainforest. I can't wait! I find the rainforest experience very spiritual and always feel renewed after I've been there. I''m definitely descended from some sort of tree dwelling monkeys! Jood - it's been very quiet on the boards without you around this weekend. Hope you haven't overdone it and that you will be back on the boards and feeling fine this week. Goodnight - sweet dreams Anna PS Laurie - have a great trip. Don't thrash the plastic tooo much! |

Good morning all, I can't believe you were all quiet just coz I was away for the weekend, does that make me the worstest waffler in the group? .. pmsl Had a really great time, fun people, lots to do and see and eat! Countryside very dry, yet pretty. We didn't stay on the freeway all the way, took lots of side roads, very windy, steep in some places. We had a terrific bus driver (and good looking as well) - he had us in fits with his jokes, which always ended in 'there you go' - in the end, every time anyone said anything, we would say 'and there you go' (don't be surprised if I start saying it as well!) .. Another phrase he used a lot (deliberately) - was 'fancy that'. .. Actually, they weren't all jokes, they were stories about his childhood - and half the time we didn't know if he was making them up or they were true, especially as he could put on different accents in appropriate places. .. When he started talking about Lyre birds, I had my doubts!!! .. Needless to say he was an excellent bus driver... The tablets recommended me for my cold (since my usual brand isnt now available) - were some kind of sinus tablet. .. I didnt expect they would be much good, but they certainly worked well, so the cold was much more bearable. Laurie whats this I hear about you trying to take on a car - and a porsche at that? I hope your paralegel is giving you advice (and I dont mean purple pills). Hope your *um is ok. Thinking of you Trifley. .. Hope you girls all have a fun time this week. Also to Lara, hope she gets her pc working properly again soon. Must away, another busy day. Thanks cat, for enquiring - and Lew and Anna. Ooops ....... nearly forgot. ... Lew, we certainly did go to the Wollombi pub (complete with the usual bikies) - and I did try some Dr Jurd's Jungle Juice - yukky poo. .. It tasted like dry sherry, is that what its supposed to taste like? And one last thing, Lew, thanks for doing the Lotto for me. Now I have to go away and re-learn Jude2 & Jude3 all over again :-( Damned if I know why Jude3 is now Yarra - is that coz she lives in Malbin? So there you go. Jood |

Morning Wattlers, Hope everyone is fit and well or getting better if they've been on the sick list (((((Hugs))))) for Trifley for tomorrow - just remember we are all with you - it's gonna be mighty cosy in the consult room with us all there you know - pppppp (((((Hugs))))) for Yvette - when do you get the bandage off? (((((Hugs))))) for Laurie - now you know why you have that extra padding don't you - actually we do gain weight in that region for just such contingencies (big word) so that in our older years we have some resources to fall back on should we be seriously ill - we bounce back from illness a lot better than the skinny minnies who have no fat stores - sorry to have to use words like fall and bounce after your experience - pmsl Lara hope you can sort your prob - does sound like it could be battery but haven't experienced that with my lappy - yet so can't help. Hope you're enjoying the warmth - it's a bit nipply here this morning - again Jood - hope you've had a great weekend and not tired yourself out. Mary - how's the packing going - it's amazing just how much stuff we pack into houses isn't it - when it's all in cupboards you don't think you have much until you have to pack it and find somewhere to store it until moving day. Daughter and I off to Sydney tomorrow - she's shouting me - got a voucher for 1 nights accomm in Sydney thru her work, we are having an extra night - mind you I'm second choice as her friend has moved to Sydney since this was originally organised - oh well - change of scenery is just what I need I think. Hi and ~~~~~~~~~ to everyone - hope y'all have a great day Gwenda |

Good morning Wattlers, Oh you poor thing Von - nothing worse than getting stuck in an airport! Sounds like you had a good weekend Joodles - glad the cold is easing. Anna - have a wonderful time at Tamborine Mountain - watch out for 'plastic card walk' (as the lovely Ray calls it) and make sure you enjoy the food experience, some of the best little restraunts going up there. Lots of lovely bush walks for you - lush and tropical, and the little blood sucking leaches!!!! I had a wonderful time yesterday, dropped Ray out at the football and went on to spend the afternoon with the cousin I have just found after 30 years. We are so lucky to have had bower birds for ancestors, she and I have so much to share with one another. We spent a lot of time looking at all the lovely photos and didn't get to the bundle of letters she has - all tied up in a bundle by our Grandma Kate. The letters are all the ones sent home by the two uncles that were killed in WWII, plus others. So I have all that to look forward to. It was great though as we both have our different stories passed down, and between us we have a pretty good picture of the life of our family. I was just standing talking to Pat, thinking how much her looks and her sound reminded me of different ones, when her little boy said how much I sounded like Pats younger sister, his aunt. I have heaps to do today - so much to do before we leave on Wednesday! So best get a start and I'll catch you all up later. cheers luv Laurie |
