Daisy Mal and i were talking about doing the very same thing last night, as its quite a weird web address to pass on verbally :-)) I did wonder if it was a bit odd, but now you have convinced me that even if its odd it ok, so thanks :-) I know what you mean about the housewife bit as well, i have the same problem, but i am doing my best to get round it. I have approached so many many people/companies already those that have got back to me have been a no, two have said yes but a bit busy just now, can they get back to me in a couple of weeks, so i am hoping......as for the others, after 2 weeks of no reply do i assume a no? or do i bug them again???? My local paper will run an article on me, but we are going to wait until we have been visited by Gaynor Bear, as we need to make the most of her visit first. I am off to get my boots today, and hoping that i can twist the arm of the company i am going to to sponsor me or let me leave a form for the staff.......see i am getting so brazen, lol Anyway, have a nice day everyone, catch you later Yvette

I've just made some 'business' cards with my name, addy, phone numbers, email and bmycharity webpage on. I used the WHS business card pack £3.99 and they look the biz. Just thought it would be handy to give to anyone asking for details. Daisy

One other thing I thought of today. In Milton keynes shopping centre there's a 'community booth', where people from various charities stand and collect money, do raffles etc. Might be worth booking it one weekend, and stand and rattle the bucket ?

See that's the drawback with being a housewife - no network! lol I'll get there though. Daisy

Yes Daisy.... so far with the 20 people commited its a minimum of £50,000 to Cancer Research UK!! BLOWS ME AWAY EVERY TIME A NEW TREKKER APPEARS!! And i have another 6 people dithering or waiting for details at the moment!! :O)

Well Step one is to mail my organisation group, which is spread round the country... about 300 people. Then I'll do the site where I work... which'll add about another 300 people. I've also spoken to the people that organise the company magazine about getting an item in it, which will probably be September now... Wheels in motion... oh, and I'l working on a mate of mine to see if he might come... he's not sure as yet tho.

Paul don't worry mate.... I have another friend in Vf that is gonna help me fundraise so that's double the matched fundraising which will benefit the WHOLE group!! :O)

You are coming whether you raise it or not! I'm not going without you! Well actually I am because I've just realised quite how much we're going to raise doing this! Paul. LOL Daisy

Lucky you Diana. Mine won't give me a penny. Some chap in the states tried to make out that I wasn't even allowed to send out a mail soliciting donations, but I've spoken to tehe HR people in the UK and they say it's OK, so I shall be doing that when I'm back to work on Tuesday (to approx 300 people in my org).

PinkDiana Report 28 Apr 2005 23:42

Daisy - I could do that yes but that would be Cancer Research UK down by a minimum of £1000 and I would never live with myself!! Plus can you imagine what Gaynor would say???? it certainly wouldn't turn the world PINK!! :O) I will raise thre same as the rest of you otherwise I'm not coming!! So glad I work for a company that will help with matched fundraising to a degree!! :O) Pink xx

Daisy... you have different legs now ? did someone nick the old ones ?

~♥ Daisy ♥~ Report 28 Apr 2005 23:33

Thanks GR and thanks Pink. Surely as the Pink Fund manager you can come along to give your troops moral support without needing to raise all that money again! My best friend is a personal trainer and she's coming round next week to design me a training programme. I may even get back the legs I had when I was 22! Am so pleased I decided to do this. Thanks to all of you for persuading me! Daisy

Hey guys what i am doing is the eay bit.... you lot have to train from scratch and I know how hard that is!! LOL!! But seriously, I am going to write to a couple of women's mags that pay for stories and I hope that will fund my bit of the trek as I just don't know if my pals will sponsor me AGAIN after china!! :O) Pink xx

As a Thank you to GR for allowing this thread and the Great Wall one, plus the fact that without it we would NEVER have met and created this challenge I have asked if they mind us dedicating a day on the trek to them..... just means free advertising for them but hey!! They have kindly said they will let us have some T-shirts and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them! Pink xx
