My mum, who is nearly 80, came up to stay for a few days, she's gone back home today. She brought with her a box of delights, which I am now going through, including - a photo of my gt grandfather from Rendcomb playing the violin. I had no idea this existed, he looks rather like Gareth Edwards with a dark widow's peak hairstyle. - the will of my great-granduncle from Cornwall, which gives me the married names of two of his sisters (yippee, I've been trying to find their marriages without success as I didn't know the husbands' names), names of various nieces & nephews whose existence I didn't know of, various properties he owned around Talskiddy and his late wife's name - I had no idea he had married. - information about my grandfather's war work in the Home Guard - family letters about the death of my great-grandfather and newspaper obituaries of him - various birth, death, and marriage certificates (though I had already bought some of them - grr) So exciting! Helen How fantastic for you. My Mum's just rang and told me that she found some old photos while tidying the shed out! I'm going to pick them up tonight. Jeanette x

Perhaps my Grandad will finally find something of some use. Didn't bother to bring any of the old stuff with him when he moved house about 5 years ago. Frustrating or what.

Daniel If only we'd known all those years ago that those 'old things' would be of so much use to us, eh? Jeanette

Hi Susie,
I just found your message using a search and was interested in the info on your Uncle as I live in Talskiddy. Maybe I could learn something about him or you could learn something from me. I would be interested in what papers you have on the village.
Regards
Phil

Phil,

I don't think Susie is a member anymore, so is unlikely to see your message.
