Jill, earlier this evening I was searching for relatives on the 1901 website with no luck, then I tryed the surname again but left out one of the letters and bingo found the whole family group cos I had assumed they spelt it a different way, so has your grandad got a name that could be spelt another way? otherwise if you know his birth year and you can get to London you could check the indexes for his birthdate and then order his certificate, or if you know the details you could contact the nearest register office.have you tried freebmd and the mormon site- family search?
