I bought mine about 5 months ago and love it, you just want to stretch and sink yourself into it
Sadly other half finds it a bit warm so at the moment its on half the bed and tucked under as I refused to give it up. Might be better giving up the husband :))))))

I did wonder if those mattresses would make you too hot and sweaty - a most un-natural material, to my way of thinking.

I have R/A so often find it difficult to get into a pain free position when laying in bed. I opted for a duck down/feather mattress topper and love it - with that underneath me and the duvet on top, its like sleeping in a cloud. lol

We went away at Christmas and the ten nights sleeping without it was very uncomfortable.
Wondering if it will pack into the car without OH seeing for our next trip away :)))))

I'm glad you said that Pusser. I have got one on order from the Studio catalogue. I didn't really shop around so I don't really know the average price. This one's by Airsprung and it was £200. Does that price sound ok?

I'm not sure how many inches it is but it's a proper thick mattress, not a topper.

We have had ours for nearly three years now, got the whole bedbase with 2 drawers and mattress for £600, and interest free credit for a year I think from either Rosebys or Bensons bed, can't remember without checking paperwork. It is comfy and very warm, o.h. loves it altho found it too warm at first. Only problem is that none of his sheets fit well as it is so deep, it is a much higher bed too so easier for me to get in and out of.

Liz,

John Lewis do some deeper fitted sheets, and they have overcome our already deep mattress problem with topper on top. (If you get my drift.)

They were reasonably priced - I think they were something like £14 or £15 for double, with no delivery added.

Elisabeth

Update - we bought our topper from Netto, at about £35 or so.

As a chiropractor for the past 30+ years I have formed an opinion on beds.

Many people who wake in the morning with stiff aching back blame the bed. There may be nothing wrong with the bed so before you go spending heaps on a new bed get a check from a chiropractor.

The important point is to get firm support the full length of your body. The mattress needs to be soft enough to allow the fat bits to sink in while still supporting the thin bits.

The old idea of a hard mattress meant that the body was supported on hips and shoulders and sagged between.

The pillow is also important. It should support the head so that the neck is in line with the rest of the spine. Many people believe they need extra pillows if they have a neck problem. Don't take any notice of the position you see actors in on TV. The guy in "My Family" is a dentist so what would he know.

On the subject of dentists always ask for a small pillow to support you neck while in the dentist chair. They useually have a small pillow but forget to offer it.
