Thanks to the previous help I managed to get Reginald and Catherine (also known as Katherine, or Kathleen) Urry's 1921 marriage certificate. It transpires that Reginald was with the Royal Air Force (347979 A/C2) and stationed in Lee on the Solent) - bit of a surprise! His father is registered as Joseph Edward Barnett and recorded as deceased. I had got the impression from Catherine and his son that he died around the time Reginald left her (6ish), but that is clearly not the case. He had apparently been a 'cattle dealer', which was also unexpected. This would seem a somewhat rushed marriage, their only son being born just a little over three months later. I found a death of a Joseph Barnett age 73 in 1921 (APR-MAY-JUN 2a 187), but in Hambledon (surrey?).... maybe the shock of the news or something! |
