It turns out that there were three related Fryer families in Sedgley around this time: Thomas c.1791 married to Hannah c.1795; George c.1801, (probably) his brother, married to Sarah c.1784, James 1813, Thomas' eldest son, married to Elizabeth c.1821. To complete the picture I should very much appreciate help in finding the census returns for James' family in 1851, then all three of the families for 1861. Anthony

That is Thomas in 1851 o.k. James is listed with Elizabeth as his wife in the 1841 census which I have. There may also have been an earlier marriage to a Mary with a daughter Emma from the IGI files, but I am not too sure about this. George seems to have had a previous marriage also. Mortality in birthing seems to have been a major danger at that time so it is possible that James may have lost Elizabeth and remarried. Anthony

A mis-spelling in 1851!!!
That is certainly the family of Thomas. Can I ask, did you find Thomas c.1791 or George c.1801 (or their descendants, if they had passed on) in the 1861 census?
