Hello

Can someone please look up any record of Samuel Mouchet on the new Ancestry.co.uk parish records please. Looking for a marriage to a Sarah & a baptism or burial for him.

He is named as the father of both Sarah & Caroline Mouchet on their marriage certs. Sarah born c1825 Newington & Caroline born c1828 Lambeth. Both daughters are living with mother Sarah in 1851. Mother Sarah is widowed & born c1792 Cripplegate. Daughter Sarah is named Sarah Joseph & married in that census.

Samuel is either dead or not living with the family in the 1841 census.

Thank you in advance
Paul

Hello Lindsey

Thanks for your help.

There is an old book called the Ancestor vol 5 with info on Abraham John Mouchet & wife Mary.

In the book it states that all the children of Abraham John & Mary 'died unmarried or without issue'.

This would obviously rule out that Samuel as being my one.

Yes that is my family Lindsey.

Henry appears to be another brother of Sarah & Caroline.

There is another family of Mouchet's living with them. Joseph is the head. He was born c1811. Was he another sibling ? This would put the marriage between Samuel & Sarah before c1811.

This family is driving me mad !

Theres always a possibility they forget to marry !

Paul

Paul Report 4 Oct 2009 14:05

Yes that may be the case Lindsey

I think i will try and find any possible marriages of any of the children of Abraham & Mary Mouchet to see if that book i quoted is incorrect.

It was written in 1903 by a family connecting decendent named Aleyn Lyell Reade. She states that 'The following pedigree represents my entire knowledge of the Russell family'.

The Russell's are connected to the Mouchet's.

Well they didnt have the internet in 1903 , it must have been quite difficult to access records then.but worth using as a guide

Considering its 200 years ago, quite surprising how much there is to find.! It looks like a French name ?

Paul

Paul Report 4 Oct 2009 14:15

Yes it is unusual Lindsey. A French name.

That Francis was a brother to Abraham Mouchet.

I have found out that 50 years previous to the 1841 census a Henry Ann Mouchet lived in the same street as my Mouchet family. His father was named Samuel. Was Henry Ann Mouchet the father of my Samuel.

Henry Ann Mouchet was Keeper of Musical instruments in his majestys household. My Samuel was a painter by profession. Not exactly in the same class as Henry Ann.
