ive been searching for my great great grandfathers first name for a while now but cannot get to the record office myself I believe its either john or thomas poole .

The birth im looking for is Henry Poole born may 1860 in lapworth warwickshire I know the records have moved several times since 1860 at one point it came under solihull and my only real hope is the main office

I have all the details of Henry poole
I am looking for his fathers first name I know it is either Thomas Poole born about 1816 in lapworth or John Poole born about 1820 in lapworth They could even be brothers and that if someone was going to main records office maybe they could find the correct one I have however realised i didnt include a rough date of birth for Them.
At the records office do you see a copy of the orignal birth record with names of parents on or would i have to purchase a birth certificate to see the information on parents maybe its were im getting confused.

Jill - i was just looking for a possible marriage that fitted with the family i found on the 1861 census and the 1857 is too late (there is a 14 yr old child in 1861). I could be wrong you really need to buy Henry's birth cert to be sure.

This is so confusing with the name spellings changing from one census to another Im also wondering if maybe he married twice both wifes being eliza
My other problem ive found is that My aunt is doing family history She has Thomas as henrys father and eliza truman as his mother
Where as i found john with eliza truman lol
Still No one ever said it would be easy eh lol

No problems - it really sounds like you need the birth cert though! Also would suggest his marriage cert. Costs money but saves you loads of time in the long run.
