Does anyone have access to local records in LLanishen and Pontypool. I'm looking for dates of a birth, a death and a marriage. We have the ref. numbers for the marriage and death but no birth record at all. We need the actual dates for the marriage and death to order the certificates. The birth is Sarah Horrell born LLanishen 1889/90. We found her on 1911 so could work out the year she was born but can't order her BC without the date. She married Frank Drayton as Sarah Reeves in Pontypool 1929 but we need the actual date. She died in Pontypool 1935 3rd Qtr, again an entry but no actual date. Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Diana,

you don't need the actual dates to be able to order certificates from the GRO, you just need the reference numbers that you will have if you found the record on ancestry or findmypast.

Kind regards,
cathy

You do not need the date to get the birth cert - that's one of the points of getting it!! Not seeing her birth though.
Might be an idea to get marriage cert first as you have already found it.

You can order Certs from here without knowing the actual dates

Are you sure about that name? Not seeing a Reeves/Horrell marriage either.

Thanks Folks. I thought that I didn't need the dates but the person I'm doing this for tried to order and said she was told she needed the dates. I think she got a bit confused. Still need the birth though just to complete the set.

Yes got the marriage Reeves/Drayton. She used Reeves for a while when she had a child but didn't marry the father but used the name to marry Drayton. She is Horrell on the child's BC and had a child by Drayton giving maiden name as Horrell. She is apparently buried as Sarah Drayton in Llanishen but no record of grave either. Was her birth ever registered we wonder? We were just thinking that it hadn't been transcribed yet maybe?
Confusing eh!

Hi again, sorry I had to go and eat my lunch while it was still hot! It's freezing here :(

Looks like the census's are the family, mother maybe having died by 1901. Funny there isn't a BC though. Thanks for all your help. I thought I had looked on the Wales census but the wrong spelling didn't help:) I tried several combinations too.
Sorry I didn't mention a possible middle name Jane. It comes and goes and as she was given to changing her name we weren't sure whether it was actually true. It was the estimated age on the death certificate that pointed us to a possible birth year 1989/90. Also she is 22 on the 1911 Census so that suggests 1889 as well. I have only seen the index. I'm going to take out a sub to have a further look but she is a servant in LLanishen by then. She gave birth to her first child in 1919 in Derby.

However, we now know a lot more than we did so once again thank you very much.
