Martin Report 22 Mar 2005 16:24

My great grandfather's name was Heinrich (Henry) von Bargen. He is listed as being a Sugar Baker in the 1881 and 1891 Liverpool census. He had two sons Alfred and Henry, after he was married to a woman called Brigit MacEvelly, in 1892. Due to WWI, he was interned on the Isle of Man, where he died in 1919. My theory is that he came to England on a ship owned by the von Bargen Reederei, which was extant until the late 1980's, operating from Wischhafen, Niedersachsen. Unfortunately all records of his internment have been destroyed by the Red Cross. Any help in tracking down his origins would be greatly received. Thanks in advance Martin von Bargen
