Hello, I'm looking for information on a William Crawford born c.1874 in Ireland and came over to the north east of England c.1896. His father was also called William Crawford. He married Janet Lewcock in 1897 and they had a son Robert Crawford born in Birtley 1898. William Crawford served in the 2nd Boer War and received a head injury. He took a very long time to return home. Could be as late as 1910 before he is seen again in Birtley. I don't know what regiment he served in, but I do know it wasn't the DLI.
