I'm looking for any info on George Young who married Ann Livingston in 1800 - Portmoak, Kinross, Scotland.

They had a son called Andrew (b. 1815 - Portmoak) and their other children may have been Thomas, David, and James.

I'm trying to find out when George was born and who his parents were?

Any info would be of great help.

Thanks,

Rachael

This is the only George born between 1765 and 1785 showing in Kinross but it means absolutely nothing as he could have been born anywhere. Sorry not much help to you at all. Orwell and Portmoak are neighbouring parishes.

I'm back again Rachael. I've actually found George's death certificate on scotlandspeople (a brilliant site for any Scottish ancestors). My printer is playing up so can't print it out but it says George died in 1855, aged 78 at Balgedie. His wife, Ann Livingstone, was already deceased. Parents David Young and Helen Condie? were already deceased. Children were David(51), James? dec. at 45 in 1851, Alexander dec at 7 weeks in 1807, George dec at 11? in 1821, William (42), Margaret (40), Andrew (37), Thomas Whyte (34).
He died on March 13 of heart disease, 2 years, and was buried in the churchyard at Drumoak, certified by Henry Law, undertaker. Informant was David Young, son. Thomas Whyte, surgeon? saw the dead body.
George and his father both appear to be portioners ? whatever that was.
The 1855 images give an extraordinary amount of detail as you can see. You are very lucky he died in this year.

Thanks ***alviegal***. I really appreciate all the help you've given me. I stumbled on George's siblings late last night by chance but wasn't 100% sure.

I'm a desentant of George Young, through his son, Andrew's family.

It's really great to be able to get a bit further along the family line.

Many Thanks again,

Rachael

Hello Florence and welcome to the Community Boards.

It has been nearly four years since this thread was last used so it is doubtful if Rachael is still looking for replies.

You can try clicking on her name and sending your message that way. If she still has the same email address she will be notified.

However, if you are looking for connections on this site, the best thing to do is to put the names you are researching into the Search Trees box above to see if anyone else has them in their tree. If you find a connection, you can contact the tree owner.

If you would like help and advice with your research, then why not start a thread of your own? Take a look at the Help Clinic - above left - for further advice.

Finally, it would be better if you could please remove your email address as it is against GR's policy and unsafe for you.
