The name Emes, Eames, Eams, and Ames all come from the Anglo Saxon for Uncle. It is said that orignally it was used as a friendly greeting like mate, buddy or mucker. However a knowledgeable mate of mine cruelly informed me that it was also used to name the village idiot! Peter Derek Emes
