Many thanks for info, apologies for taking so long to reply.

Quentin Hawkes the friend I am helping says the info ties in but was wondering what happened to Elizabeth Hawkes (nee Wells) ?
His Granny told him once that she had dissapeared or remarried?
Take care,
Jenni

Just wondering.......where were the children on the 1891 census? The boys may have been employed but two of the girls would only have been aged 12 and 13??
I wonder if she left him and took the children with her??

Here is the marriage and death of Obed but there are too many Elizabeth Hawkes deaths to look at - she could have been anywhere.

So, am I getting this right...........

Henry is born about 1882 and by 1891 the children are living with Aunt Eliza and Uncle Joseph and Obed is living alone with 2 servants?

I wonder if Elizabeth died in childbirth and Obed put the chldren with his sister?

Hi,

She could have died, unfortunately it is such a popular name and she could have died anywhere in Warwickshire, on the otherhand Jenni's friend has been given the impression that she "disappeared or remarried", if that were correct I would have thought she would have taken the younger children, but it's a possibility that can't be ruled out, yet!!!

Many thanks for info, apologies for taking so long to reply.

Quentin Hawkes the friend I am helping says "just a reply to one of the threads where it was queried "where were the children in the 1891 census". I have traced them all in that they were staying with an Aunt Eliza Cadman (married sister of Obed) in Exmore. whether this was a permanent arrangement after the Mother's departure or some temporary holiday arrangement I quess we will never know. It still however does not in any way enlighten us on Elizabeth's fate. She however never had any further contact with any of the children to the best of our knowledge.

Take care,
Jenni

Hmm. Sounds a bit odd doesn't it? There are too many possible scenarios to contemplate :
death?
desertion?
mental/health breakdown?

What we need is a descendant of the family who knows all about the story, which is where we began with Jenni's original request. Full circle.

ps. Jenni, have you tried the search box above for any other possible links on this site?
