I'll ask Von on the Welsh thread Jean. People seem to have eased off posting on here which is sad.

glad your cards found a good home, hope they make some money for them. We took a load of cards to the residential home where they are sold yesterday so hopefully they will do some good as well.

I had a look at Annx lovely jewellry on your blog they are fantastic.....wonder how Von is doing I loved her work, hope we hear from her....

Winifred you do well with limited supplies. Maybe if any of us are going to Cyprus we could bring something out. We did go to Paphos two years ago and loved it, it was October and we had wonderful weather. No plans to revisit at the moment though. :-)

Thank you Ann.
Thank you for the info re craft shop in Limassol yes it is good but the only one and a long way from where I live. Once a year we sometimes hire a coach and spend a day there. I have heard that the workshops are not very good but I haven't been so only going by what I heard. We did have two small ones inPaphos but one has stopped selling card stuff. Mainly knitting now and the other now does mainly patchwork and sewing stuff. We do have a weekly market stall that sells card stuff and we go to the wedding shops for flowers and there's a button and ribbon shop but there again in Limassol. So a long way.

Hi Winifred

Re your remark about having no craft shops in Cyprus. About 5 years ago I was visiting my daughter there and went to a lovely craft shop near Limassol to get some cross stitch stuff to start off a friend of hers doing cross stitch. They also sold a lot of card making stuff and I spent a small fortune there. They did workshops and even had a room where husbands could go and have a cuppa and read the newspapers whilst their wives crafted! I think it was called 'Stitches' and was run by an English lady who was very helpful.

Regards
Ann

Hopefully going to do a few more Christmas cards this weekend. I find you've got to be in the mood for Xmas cards. Birthday cards are no problem. Have a good weekend folks. xx

Card makers. do you find that after making a lot of Christmas cards you find it hard to get back into making birthday cards?

AnninGlos Report 30 Oct 2013 13:33

Thank you Winifred, I will certainly have a look later.

I had not realised that you wouldn't get the freebies, although some of the magazines have papers inserted inside the magazine so I assume that you would get those.

Nice to speak to you again, do come back on here and chat sometimes.

Ann :-)

'card magazines such as Quick cards made easy etc? they usually have free samples attached.'

Sadly they don't send the freebies to Cyprus or anywhere overseas in fact.
I have a blog and also I am a member of a few design teams. So if you're interested in my style click on the link.

Sorry about the vertigo Jean, I wonder if like migraine it can be associated with particular foods. It must be sooo frustrating for you.

I was only wondering yesterday where are all the enthusuastic paper crafters we used to have on here. I am sure there are more people who could share their ideas with us.

I have just put some Stephanie Weightman dies on my wanted for Christmas list, ever hopeful.

I am still making some Christmas cards, just trying to use up some of last years stock bought in sales in January probably for the residential home to sell. Apparently it all sells as soon as they get them. I am hoping to get to a coffee morning there in a couple of weeks so I can get some idea of clientele.

Better make some birthday and other cards as well I suppose. Keeps me occupied anyway. :-D

Hope you feel better soon Jean. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Jean's tip for anyone using the e bosser machine

Sallie, I put the magnetic shim on top of the card with the dies face up underneath, if your dies move about, put them on the card face down stick them down then turn the card over and put the shim on then your A plate, there is a tutorial on you tube showing how to do it..... with thicker dies you just need the A plate, but do use the waxed paper

Hello Winifred,

Good to hear from somebody new on the thread. do tell us more about what sort of cards you make? Stamped, toppers, shaped such as stepped etc? do you subscribe to any of the card magazines such as Quick cards made easy etc? they usually have free samples attached.

Do come back on and chat to us. :-)

I live in Cyprus and run a craft group here but craft goods are hard to come by. No craft shops as such rely on stationers or market stalls and online shopping which takes an age to get here and postage is a nightmare. Doesn't stop me from card making and papercrafting tho lol
