I am doing a Mr Men and Little Misses sampler at the moment. Quite a simple design but I am really enjoying it. The kit is from Bothy Threads and I really like the thread organiser. This is probably the first time I haven't ended up with jumble of threads. The organiser has a notch at the top that the threads loop round and a slot at the bottom to hold them in place. Will certainly keep it to reuse on other projects.

Amokavid - cross stitching a family tree sounds a lovely idea, and one that you could keep going back and adding to.
Definitely one to think about trying. :-)

Island, my first halloween stitch was finished and made into a cushion last year, already for spooks night! I backed it with some spider themed printed cotton and edged it with black frilly knicker lace - looks so nice I haven't put it away!!

I've still got the hanger one to do that is even better but probably won't get time this year as I am still trying to finish the sampler thingy for my son's wedding.

Glad you have settled into your new home and hope you are getting the veggie plot organised. I know what you mean about leaving home - I really don't like leaving Suffolk any more unless it involves serious fun!!

Geordie, my drawers are full of finished projects! I recently promised myself I would only do practical ones, like cushions as I don't have room to hang framed ones (well, actually, I do, but I hate having to dust them!)

I have just finished a runner, only the hem to do and I will start that tonight if I can bring myself to put the ironing board up to press it. There was quite a lot of metallic embroidery - ugh! So difficult to do as the threads kept coming out of the needle.

A friend brought back a kit from China and the lady in the shop had marked out a 10 x 10 grid on the fabric in red. She promised it would wash out - fingers crossed! The material edges had been zig-zag stitched - wonderful, no messing about with masking tape.

I love any sort of counted thread embroidery - Hardanger, blackwork, canvas work, especially using lots of different stitches.
