I found this book really interesting and thought provoking as I must admit I had never really thought about what life must have been like in Germany during the occupation immediately after WWII. I enjoyed the fictional story and seeing how the relationships between the families develop and change but it has also made me want to read more non fiction about the events at that time :-)
