Bobtanian Report 7 Oct 2014 10:49

how may I help?

Allan Report 9 Oct 2014 09:05

Hi Bob, just wondering how on here play guitar, like yourself I played in the 60's in Liverpool, I still play know playing the good ole Rock'n'Roll.

Bobtanian Report 9 Oct 2014 09:37

Hi Allan

its difficult these days, haven't kept in practice, too much arthritis in the knuckles
but trying to get something out of the memory box.......
still have my Hofner President, from 1961.paid 29 1/2 guineas for it then.....put a Framus II fingerplate pickup on it.......
I had a Futurama II in the late 60's/70's also, but swapped that and my Bird amp for a Austin 1100 engine and gearbox in 1975 seemed like a good idea at the time, but they would be worth a bomb these days........

Bobtanian Report 9 Oct 2014 09:41

A scouser while in the Army taught me a few riffs,I 'm not a natural, and have to learn things..........

Bobtanian Report 10 Oct 2014 09:56

you mean 60's era stuff?
I'm stuck in a time warp, don't understand this modern stuff with all the pedals and effects........

Allan Report 11 Oct 2014 11:47

Hi Bob, Hofner president good guitar, I had a an Antoria in the early days, nowadays I use a Telecaster, Strat and a Les Paul, with Fender Amps, we play Buddy Holly, Beatles, Elvis, Chuck Berry as well as the Merseybeat stuff.

Bobtanian Report 11 Oct 2014 14:25

Yep we did those, would love to be able these days,
will pm you a link.............

Allan Report 11 Oct 2014 16:38

Ricky Gleason & The Silhouettes

Bobtanian Report 11 Oct 2014 17:13

Much more professional, methinks, than I.......

Allan Report 12 Oct 2014 10:04

Hi Bob, we were lucky enough to be part of the Merseybeat era and gigged with all the top bands, we had great fun in those days, I agree about pedals in those days it was plug in and play, nowadays there are that many pedals a guitar sometimes dosent sound like a guitar.

Bobtanian Report 26 Oct 2014 19:16

yeah even Hanks' stuff doesn't sound like Hank.

but summat put together in a sound studio with artificial orchestras effects

(or is it my ancient ears not working properly)
