This is only the second time I have been on Hobbies and Crafts but I have a bead loom that I picked up on a whim.

I have seen how to thread it up and everything on YouTube but I don't know anything about the beading thread (if that is what it is called), what to buy, where to buy it etc.

Can anybody else tell me please?

I don't look in here much either.
I have a bead loom but haven't made anything for years.
You work one row at a time, threading a rows worth of beads onto the weft (to and thro) thread.
Place those under the warp (the length) threads and space them evenly in the gaps.
Then weave thread through the beads from the top.
Sorry, that sounds too complicated. I'll see if I still have instructions with the loom.

I bought beads from Neal Street bead shop in Soho but don't know even if it's there any more. Hobbycraft probably stock them and thread. I think I used button thread.

Sorry, that was probably a load of unwanted waffle Lol
I'll leave it in case it isn't though :-D

Thanks Island.

I have the loom seductions and the YouTube videos I have watched but the thing I am stuck on is what and where to buy in the way of thread for the warp.

Fishing line?

Really?

Is there not some sort of special thread that you need to use?

I think I might be frightening myself about using the bloody thing (which I only bought on a whim!).

I rarely use the 'proper' stuff if something I have will do.

Dive in and have fun!

I usually do it properly first time and then start improvising.

I bought a bead loom from a charity shop for 50p years ago and have never used it yet! Beading is a hobby of mine though and I use fishing line for that like Island suggests. Fibreline is the one that I use and it comes in breaking weights and is in white, grey or black. I find 6lb to be pretty strong and use it the most. The cotton beading threads are ok and cheaper but they don't hold position so well as the fibreline when you pull it tight and tend to fray. I buy most of my beading supplies including beading thread and fibreline on ebay, but obviously fishing shops also sell the fibreline. To just practice with you could use ordinary cotton till you know you've got the hang of it. Good luck!

Thanks for that.

Looks like i might be a reel of button thread for my first attempt, whenever that might be!
