It looks like his first wife remarried in 1970 then again in 1986

The youngest child is also registered with her second husbands name

Hi Reggie, this all makes sense regarding the marriage in 1952 and 3 children born in the 50's, he was married at the time he met my mum and had 3 children already so there were 6 0f us and my mum did tell me she thought he had 2 sons and a daughter, i have found records that indicate this too.........also thank you for the tip re: Clare....i have sent her a message as it appears she could be my cousin so we will see.
Thank you very much.... i have not done anything like this before and you gave me a few leads that i have been following up....dont suppose you could suggest anywhere else to look???

A GR member named Clare seems to have his sister Sally in her tree.......it might be worth contacting her

Go to your nearest main library.........look in the phone books

There are two children from the 1952 marriage on freebmd, so you can see the details for yourself

EDIT

The 1952 marriage may not, in fact, be relevant, as there are actually five children in total.......1953, 1955, 1958, 1964 and 1967.

.........although, there is always the possibility that he was still 'living' with his wife whilst also being with your mother in Huddersfield. Lorry driving gave plenty of scope for deception.

Or, when he left your mother with you and your siblings, he returned to Stoke and fathered two more with his wife................the 6-year gap makes that entirely possible

You will know whether this scenario is feasible....based on the birth years of yourself and your siblings

If they were registered with his surname, you should be able to find their births

There is a possible marriage for him in 1952....and another in 1967

No death for him in England/Wales up to 2006

His birth, or someone with the same name, was registered Dec quarter 1934 in Stoke on Trent. He doesn't appear to have any siblings (with the same parents)

You can check on http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl to confirm

He doesn't appear to be listed on http://www.192.com/people/search/ or on https://www.livingrelativesearch.co.uk/search/preview although there are a number of John Stanyer (with out the middle intial) in the Stoke on Trent area.

I understand he already had 3 children in stoke on Trent, he was born circa 1934 and at the time of my birth registry he was a lorry driver. This all the info i have
