I am searching for the whereabouts of Mavis Delores Phillips. Mother maiden name Doggett. Very scant information, apart from the fact that she could have had her name changed to Janet Gordon when she was under 5 yrs. old. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
:-)

Sorry. She was born as Mavis Delores Phillips, Mothers maiden name Doggett. I believe in Feb 1946. All the info I have is that she may have been adopted around the age of 2 and may have had her name changed to Janet Gordon. That is all the info I have and am not sure where to start. She is my half sister.I do realise that is very scant information, but it is all I have :(

Where has the info about wht nmame she was given come from?
Have you put your name on the adoption contact register?

I'm not even sure that the 'adoption' was a legal one. The info I have comes from her sister who has very little memory of it all. Sadly, no living relatives to ask more from. Thank you for replying anyway :)

If you buy her birth cert. it should say whether she was adopted.

It's worth mentioning that she was also registered under the name Matthews.

Only one Janet Gordon marriage is listed in Hampshire for a Janet M Gordon in 1976 in South East Hampshire registration district. This isn't too far from Southampton.

Many thanks. I will try that trail, although I don't know if her name was officially changed
