Send a PM to Julia by clicking on her name. I doubt very much that she is monitoring your thread after all this time, especially as the post above is the only one she has on the site.

She has not returned, as she obviously didn’t follow the advice about sending you a PM

Julia ........this must be a shock, all these years later........have not used G.R. for ages, but am re-visiting the various Collett-Mason, Mason and Poole lines as I have found one or two discrepancies...always the way isn;t it, you think you have it all straight and then....bang.....it has to be checked out again. I have been spending time on my Irish lines which has been exhausting, so my children's family lines have taken a back seat........
James Collett-Mason was G. Gt grandfather to my two Opie children. I have just recently had a pencil drawing of his, done by his his William Wallis, re framed and re mounted...........He was very short, only about 5'5" and his daughters and son had his stature. thank goodness we plebs have introduced some inches into the lineage.
Do you want some info on G.G. James C-M.......

It's unlikely that any Poole descendents will happen upon this thread, but it would come up on an internet search.

Just make sure that GR always have your most up-to-date email address to that if they see it in the future they can subscribe and send you a personal message by click on your name.

If you can fnd any confirmed GRO index entries on Freebmd, you could leave a 'Post'em' message with a dedicated email address, not your day-to-day one! You could get a new email address from Gmail for instance.

Thanks everyone. i have a comprehensive history of the Collett-Mason family, and over years have undertaken research of gargantuan proportions on my own lines and on my children's lines. This Poole line was not researched, because it had always been thought that William W. Mason married twice, and therefore the line was not descended from any Poole contribution. Now it is confirmed that there was only one marriage, therefore I am focusing on this Poole line.
I knew from another source that the parents for Mary Ann Poole 1809 were William and Sarah. Census records - and yes I am aware how to check census records...gave me the names of two brothers william & James plus their occupations as Artists. another GR member kindly sent me the Obituaries for both William and James, which gave me the name of another brother Rev. George Poole, and advised that there were three sons and two daughters.

i wondered if a GR person had better chances of research than I had to find the marriage of William and Sarah, parents to these five Pooles. I think the marriage to Sarah Bardell looks likely and I will see if Freereg has such a record, although of course this site is still a work in progress. Fortunately the Poole's were a close knit family and each census record shows them flitting between homes, thus I was able to piece together the siblings.

Also I was rather hoping that a modern day Poole descendant might spot the post and get in contact. Findmypast, Ancestry.com GR, Freebmd Freecen Freereg, Argentina .com LDS. oh and a few more.....I have more than thought of using them.......they have been good friends to me since 2005.
Peter Mason Opie as listed above, is Grandfather to my two Opie children....sadly they did little research into any of their lines...too busy writing books I suppose.

Thanks troops for all your help - i seldom ask for help and am grateful for your research,,,,,,,and the comments.

Is this of any use to you?

http://www.thepeerage.com/p45973.htm

As for other descendents of the original couple, use census, and BMD to bring them into the 20th Century at which point members can help you trace living relatives. Without more recent names, it's the equivalent of asking us to research your whole family tree ;-)

Do you subscribe to Ancestry? There are several trees on there about this family. If you don't, register with www.mundia.com to access the public trees. That might allow you to confirm your own research and to give us more up to date information

How much research have you done yourself?

Avryll Report 29 Mar 2013 22:22

Researching children's family lines. Mary Ann Poole married William Wallis Mason in 1834 in Birmingham, she had brothers William and James, and sister Sarah. My children descend from their son James Collett Mason. hoping to find living descendants from either the Mason children (mostly girls) or from the Poole Family. Both William and James were artists and I think there is another brother George, also an artist........
Thanks :-)
