Hi

do you know if Jim married?

If you think Jim settled in the Portsmouth area, you could try writing to the local daily newspaper, The News.
They have a free Where Are They Now ? column and when space permits they will include a brief request for information about people known to have lived in the area.
You can contact them online.

Hi, thank you both for your replys, I'm unsure if Jim married, my aunt who is very keen to find him said he had a partner called Margaret
My grandad was Robert burns smith, I'm unsure if he also had the burns surname, as I couldnt find a match for either in area for birth search on scotlands people, unless born in diff area,

I will do that tommorrow Gwyn, thank you

Sorry for late reply, x

Hi there,

Just joined the site this evening and saw your post. I worked with a James Smith (Jim), years ago. Just a quick question was he a dry stone waller do you know because the guy I knew was very distinctive, he never lost his scottish accent.

It may be him.

Thanks

Georgette - just in case Kelly is waiting for GR to send her an email regarding any replies to her post, try sending her a PM by clicking on her name.

Being a brand new member, she may not realise that the post on thread notification system doesn't work. ;-)

If you meant the thread - please don't delete it.

Even if your search is unsuccessful at the moment, someone who does know Jim Smith might spot it in years to come. As long as you keep GR informed of your current email address, people can contact you via the messaging system even if you no longer subscribe.

Has she opened the message you sent? If she hasn't read it, there should be an envelope against it in your 'sent' box.

Perhaps she is on a long holiday! :-)
