Are you likely to be trying to contact the person I told you about back in August?

And have you tried to look for any info yourself?

here's the best place to start:-

Have you had any luck with contacting the person who has him in a tree on this site?

+++DetEcTive+++

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 14 Aug 2014 20:10

Purchase Edwards DC as the informant could to be a relative

Contact the Ask a Librarian service and see if they will check the intervening years at both 287a Adelaide Rd. and 15 Severn Court. If you're lucky another Clayton name might appear.

Also ask if they will check newspapers for obituaries.

Your brick wall is because NZ have a 100 year closure on births,
80 on marriages and 50 on deaths unless the person was born 80 years or more ago.

If you edit your first post, then add NZ to the title then someone with additional NZ research knowledge may know of other sources.

You could try using the Ask a Librarian service to see if they can check the missing electoral rolls for you. The names of other eligibly voters listed at 15 Severn Court, Island Bay, Wellington, might be their children.

http://natlib.govt.nz/services/ask-a-librarian

They might even be willing to look for an obiturary for either deaths to see if any other rellies are mentioned

New Zealand Birth Index, 1840-1950 about Edward Harry Clayton
Name: Edward Harry Clayton
Birth Date: Jul-Aug-Sep 1912
Folio Number: 4109

Looking at available NZ ER on Ancestry, in the hope of finding connecting names
Name Edward Harry Clayton- Civil servant
Electoral Year: 1935
District: Wellington South
Region or Province: Wellington

At the same address – 379 Adelaide Rd, Wellington South
Alice Maud – married
Constance May – married
William Thomas – carpenter

1938, 1939 as above.

1946
Island Bay, Wellington
Although Alice, Constance and William are still at no 379, Edward has now married Isabella Mann Hunter and living with her at 287a Adelaide Rd.

Jumping ahead to 1972, Edward and Isabella are living in the same district but at 15 Severn Court.
Ditto 1978 & 1981

So all we've been able to discover are the names of his probable parents, and some other married-in female relative! Unfortunately not all years are shown on Ancestry, with gaps where eligble children are likely to be living at home

Died 1994 Reg no. 31240 Clayton Edward Harry born 31 July 1912
Died 1986 Reg 45832 Clayton Isabella Mann Hunter born 21 July 1914

From https://bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/search/

Not being familiar with NZ DC, would it give the names of his children, if any?

Added - from
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~shipstonz/nzbdentries.htm

The print out (NZ$20.40) will tell you the number and sex of living issue. At least you'd then know if they had any children!

If he was born where he died, he is in someone's tree, although it doesn't look as though you have uploaded his details

Patrick

Can you tell us, please, where he was born

is he in your tree on this site

Kenneth

Kenneth Report 12 Aug 2014 16:25

He would have been born 1912 or possibly late December 1911 if
details given by Patrick are correct.

If Edward Harold Clayton was born in Pontefract Yorkshire in 1905 he is in someones tree on here.

Go to search- top right hand corner on here, then click on search trees enter his name and you will find it. You can then send a message to the person.
Good Luck
