Hi, I am looking for the birth certificate of my gread grandfather, leslie Charles harry or henry valentin. Born Woolwich 25th april either 1881 0r 1882, I have searched for over fifteen years and researchers have come up with nothing. On his army records he lived at 70 pavilion terrace, albert road Woolwich. No trace of this on the cencus. If anyone could help, I would be eternally grateful as have hit a brick wall again,,,,,,,

well Woolwich is an Army town with the barracks still there . Remember the poor lad lad Rigby who was killed there

I am from the area and know that folks shown on the census were only living there but not necessarily where born there

my own granny married a squaddy from there but he was born in Germany!!

Just putting this here while I look, both William and father William were in the army, I am not seeing William and Annie in 1881...just wondering if stationed elsewhere whether Leslie could have been born elsewhere also?

Is he the Harry Valentine in Sheppey b c1881 in 1911?

think that is right, that he married Emily Durling.
There is a leslie charles henry valentine in a lot of the London Census.
beginning in 1918 living with a Emily valentine at 55, Borrett Rd, Southwalk.

if this is the right one in the 1911 census he is down as Harry
and is a royal navy seaman. born in Woolwich
