Wow thank you so much ,yes this is the family I am looking for. It appears there are no more living relatives, because it looks like neither James Davy Moore or Mary Fox Farnham nee Moore had children. I appreciate all you have done. The only descendants living now are via a daughter left behind in England when Robert John Moore and Mary Moore nee Davy went out to Massachusetts in 1874/5 ,she was only about 4 yrs old and spent a tragic life mostly in workhouses. This living family are California via their mother who married a GI in 1947 and are not aware that her great grandparents Robert John and Mary Moore emigrated out there in 1874/5 .She was my cousin and I know they are going to be blown away with your findings as I am. 2 Dec 1875 was the date of Naturalisation. I had seen that earlier, but the image has been incorrectly linked.

(The Masonic membership card gave a dob of Birth Date: 13 Jan 1846)

The 1930, census said that immigration was 1870, the 1920 and 1910 said 1872 - it might be a bit 'out'.

Kate was born in Mass on 26 Aug 1873 and Sarah c1871 in England. Immigration must have been between the two dates. If you have a gro reg for Sarah, that would give you a more accurate time scale.

There are incoming passengers lists, not that I can spot them with confidence. Robert may have travelled in advance to pave the way.

Oh my that is a surprise so they went out much earlier than I thought. I am now beginning to wonder if I am looking at the wrong Moores, because where is their other daughter Mary Ann Moore1870 , had she died or had she been given to someone to be looked after in England

Just looked at deaths for Manchester and in Lancashire and found no death for Mary
Ann Moore between 1871 and 1872 when the Moores left England, so presume she was left behind to be looked after. Have not been able to find her for 30 yrs until 1903 when she was in a Manchester workhouse with a daughter of her own in 1903

Moore is quite a common name. Add Mary to the mix and there are quite a few choices. We've all taken wrong turns at some point - occassionally it's a leap of faith!

If you are fairly certain that the Mary Ann in Lancashire is 'yours' then the US ones could be incorrect.

A copy of her BC will tell you if her mother was Mary Daly (or versions thereof)

I received a birth certificate for Mary Ann Moore yesterday and her parents are Robert John Moore and Mary Davy, born at the same address as in the 1871 census.So definetly the daughter of the Moores that went to Massachusetts
