I have a tenuous link with a Crump family in Brum but few years since did any fam Hist work. Think I have a pic of man and wife as well. Will try to find all bits I have. Crumps I knew lived about mid way twixt city centre and Kings Heath. When visiting my aunt in Kings Heath from a mining village in Staffs we all sometimes visited the Crumps (1940s/50s) who lived in a very dark terraced house. But my aunts daughter doesnt know why we knew the Crumps I also have Hipkiss family in my Tree. One of my maternal cousins married a Hipkiss - they're in their 60s now and live in the mining village I came from. Is this info of any interest?

Philip realises. Have tried your suggestion, many thanks. I now await a reply.

How very bizarre that Annabelle or her mother has deleted her account ... how unnecessary and foolish.

She now cannot add to or edit this thread ... and in my opinion it needs some heavy editing because of the unnecessary personal commentary about her grandmother who may still be living and various personal details about other people who are living.

But aha, Annabelle has her own tree with herself in it. Try contacting her through this system, and you should be able to reach her.

https://www.genesreunited.co.uk/messages/12704143/discover?rk=563908513

Also you might suggest that she add a post of her own to this thread, and tick 'Watch This' at the top of it, so that in future she will get notices if people add messages to it. How I wish that everyone would do that with their threads ... how I wish that this site's management had ever made it clear to people that they need to do that if they want emails about replies to their questions ...

Now we wait to see whether Philip realizes that he has replies here ........... :-S

Welcome to genes, Philip.

Possibly someone on here contacted the original poster and ended up with a private email address, or more information about her so that they could act as an intermediary.

Otherwise it is rather frustrating, indeed.

It seems the original message poster is no longer contactable. I have further information if interested.

Hi Deborah

Glad the probate I posted for Sylvia has been discounted, so she could be still be alive.

You have mentioned that "for some reason" you were not registered as Hipkiss - despite him being your father. No child was given a surname, but the father (if not married to the mother) can only be on the birth certificate with his consent - usually involving him attending the registrar office. He obviously did this for Priscilla registration, as her birth is recorded under both Hipkiss and Niblett, but has not done the same on your registration. Not unusual.

Hi Deborah

Yes it was the birth reg for Priscilla that I'd found, but you already know about her so not a shock :-)

This is the complex part. My biological mother had three children by a man called Raymond Niblett then she had an affair with a William hipkiss and had Priscilla and myself, but for some reason I was given Niblett as a surname and not Hipkiss. Then as far as records show Priscilla was taken away by social services followed by me being given up to Barnardos and then my mother moving to Weston-super-Mare and having further two children one being male one female with a man called Mr Fowler. And to tenements surprise after my daughter had been doing research only for 12 hours we have found out through kind people on here that she remarried again to another man and if she is still alive currently holds the surname DUDLEY. My daughter looked up in the phone book online today of names of my mothers twin sisters children and tried to calling people but alas no luck. My question is where do I go from here do I go up to Cannock and knock on every address that I have or are there other ways of me finding siblings as I have messaged people on here that have trees that relate to my biological family but I have had no reply and I know that two people are looking for me one possibly being my half sister Sandra and another female by the name I don't know. Has anyone else on here had the same outcome and in The mindset of what do I do next. Obviously my daughter Annabelle said it's hard to just phone people up although people are being really nice, if they were that chance that it was a correct phone number it could shock someone and not have a very nice outcome so if anyone has any suggestions or if anyone has done anything like this in the past looking for family I would be most grateful if you could tell me how you went about it. My daughter Annabelle is currently awaiting having an operation so we can't do anything at the moment but we are planning maybe next year to go up to Cannock and search the addresses and basically do some hard-core digging. I didn't think it would be this hard I'm so grateful to everyone that has helped my daughter and I on this forum. At least we've established that I have a proper birthdate and I am a real person, my daughter joked that maybe I was in alien. Now comes the time to try and find my biological mother auntie and siblings hoping that the older generation will still be alive. All advice is welcome in abundance and really truly appreciated as this is very complex and I have MS so my daughter has to do most of the computer side of things. Either she will type for me or I will talk and she will type. If anyone can get hold of Gary Neblett who is my half brother his tree is on here I know one person has access to that but I haven't as he has not replied if anybody knows a way of getting in touch with him other than on here please could they do so. Many thanks Debbie Ann and Annabelle. <3

Hi Deborah

In your opening post you also mention the surname Hipkiss - where does that name fit in?

The reason I ask is because there is a birth in 1962 for a female Hipkiss mmn Crump, in the Stafforshire area. I can't find a likely marriage and no other births either - although I have to admit I haven't looked too hard! :-)

Annabelle, I think we have already established that Marjory and her twin were born 4 December 1930. Their births were registered in the first quarter of 1931.

Good, Choccy!
I had looked for a Niblett birth before, but hadn't noticed that one.

EDIT:

and having looked again, I see that it doesn't appear on FreeBMD.
Must be one of the 1963 births that FreeBMD hasn't transcribed yet.

Can't see why the registration office people couldn't find it, though.
