AustinQ Report 2 Sep 2017 07:18

Paulette- it wasn't me that suggested those births. I don't think they are in any way connected to Ruth.

It was suggested that those births were likely the children of this marriage:

Marriages Sep 1933
Freearson Arthur H Griffiths Coventry 6d 2178
Griffiths Maud Freearson Coventry 6d 2178

As the daughters marry in Coventry I think this is likely correct. I wouldn't waste money on a certificate.

Did you contact the Berkshire Record Office to see if they could help with the Foxhill Road address?

AustinQ I went back and read all the blogs and looks at one you had written, I look at two children born 1934 and 1937 the mother surname was Griffiths and father was Frearson I will send for one of the birth certificate and see what transpires.

Paulette Report 31 Aug 2017 22:44

Okay back to drawing board I thought I was on the right path as she was Ruth Freason unusual name that was her Bigamist marriage. The trouble is I cannot look at the birth date I put in her date of birth and it brought Ruth Masterman Thank you.

Kay????

Kay???? Report 31 Aug 2017 22:21

That cant be Ruth,

there were children born after that marriage, which would make Ruth abt 53!! at the first one and much older for the other.

Paulette Report 31 Aug 2017 20:24

Paulette- I'm just back after a few days away- I did add to the bottom of my post re the electoral register that I didn't think it was your Ruth:

EDIT: Possibly not our Ruth- there is a Bert Griffiths marriage to Ruth Gallagher in 1950 Northumberland, and a birth of a possible child to this marriage in Middlesex.

Think we can forget that one.

Paulette

Paulette Report 28 Aug 2017 17:09

I going to have a look on the Electoral Register and see what I cannot it worth looking at the Bert Griffiths if it not right then you start again thank you for your help.

ArgyllGran Report 28 Aug 2017 13:29

Please note I'm not saying the 1969 death is definitely the right Bertram Griffiths - he could be someone completely different!

There are a number of births where the child's official name is Bert or Bertie, so Ruth's Bert's name might not be a shortened form of Bertram (or Albert or Herbert, for that matter.)

Found a Jack Griffiths still living at 17 Hawthorne way Burpham Guildford untill 2003 maybe that's family, maybe Bert Griffiths got ill and went to live with them. Found that a Phyllis M Griffiths was living with Jack Griffiths, now found a Phyllis M Griffiths living in the same area with a John Griffiths. Maybe they may know Ruth if she wa living with Bert Griffiths.

You won't find old electoral registers online they are at the main library for the area

Ancestry does have some London ones to about 1965 and they seem to have included Feltham

They were actually at that address from 1955 too which may tie with her changing her name in 1954
Maybe she wasn't divorced from the second husband

He isn't Bert J Griffiths either. The J indicates he is eligible or has done Jury service

ArygllGran AustinQ put the in the information on he put on the same address in Staines as you found. I need to search and the electoral register and look for my Auntie and possible the Griffiths family. Which is the best electoral register site to look at. Thank you once again for all your help.

My Mother was still living at home she would be about 16 years my mother was born 1920 what I don't understand that no child has shown up on any cencus for Ruth which is puzzling I mwill ring Ireland and see if they have anything I do know record were burn in the 1930 s after a fire in the record office. If I could find what happened to Ruth from 1968 she was living at 12a Stewart Street Shepperton Chertsey. I need to search from then Ruth was then calling herself Griffiths and living with a Bert Griffiths or I have to follow her first Husband William Cunningham. I have been searching death records in all her names she used. My Mothers Father never read the letter open saw who it was from and binned it was Mother saw the photo and took it. I work on this everyday I was going to get a search done but it was so expensive.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 27 Aug 2017 14:22

I wish we knew
(1) what was in the letter which Ruth's father destroyed - did it actually say that Sarah was Ruth's child?
(2) When the photo was sent - after 5/6/36, obviously, but it might help to clarify
whether the date was the child's DOB, or the date the photo was taken - assuming Sarah to be approx 12-18 months old, as Paulette thinks.
Not knowing her rough age doesn't help in trying to track her down.

Can't help wondering where Sarah is on the 1939 register if Ruth is living in as a waitress at the RN station

It was a long shot, but disappointing that it wasn't her.

Certificate arrived but not right one so back to square one don't know where to go now to fine children of Ruth Cunningham. The certificate says Rachel Irene Griffiths married to a David Thomas Griffiths so I will pass it on if anyone can use it.
