Have you checked on here in the members' trees? If either of them knows his birth name, and has any interest in connecting with birth relatives he may have a tree on here in his birth name

If you apply for their birth certificates, you would have confirmation of their parents' names and if they were adopted the certificates should record that fact on the far right hand column.

You would then have actual dates of birth to work with too.

Hi wigmaker, did you live with one or both of your parents, or were you also adopted? (No, you weren't adopted, it seems ...?)

There is only one marriage that matches the father's and mother's surnames for the boys' birth, so it does seem that they are your brothers. It could be that they were registered in their mother's husband's surname even if he was not their father. You would likely know whether this could be the case. You and they were born in different places, however.

Their mother died in 2002 so we can be a little less careful about details. (I can't really identify their father's birth so it is hard to tell whether he would be still living. Probably he was a year older but dropped a middle initial when he married? Or, it being the end of the war, was he not born in England/Wales?) Her apparent second husband died in 2014:

and his wife (he remarried) died in 2011:

So it would seem there is no one left of that generation to ask about this.

Just an odd thing is that only one other birth was ever registered with the same name and initial as the boys' mother ... and that was in the same quarter and year as their mother.

Do you know the other person who has your mother in their tree? (neither of you has the father's name in your tree.) (EDIT - from the other thread - it sees wigmaker did not have the same mother as the two boys)

A good idea to put yourself in your tree as well in case they search for you.

The info in the two threads does not seem to jibe.

The marriage is on freebmd 1945 Bournemouth

Can't see where the name bullock comes in as is not on your birth record

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 24 Jan 2018 01:03

Exactly, Shirley.

One set of parents = Mr Bullock + Rose
(edit - that couple seem to be irrelevant)
Other set of parents = Mr Lawless + Pearl (on all three birth registrations)

The father's name on a birth cert could be incorrect (i.e. be the mother's husband, not the father), but the mother's name isn't likely to be incorrect.

Re-EDIT

Wigmaker and the two boys were all registered as the children of the second above marriage, and share their mother.

Wigmaker I don't think you have either them or their mother on a tree here? ( edit: my mistake re mother on tree, i must have entered it incorrectly) It would be sensible to do that so that if either of them do search for their birth mother or their birth name on here they can make contact.

Remember to keep your email address updated with admin even when/if you no longer have a paid account, as then you would still receive notification of any messages sent to you, and you would still be able to reply.

wigmaker, answering questions helps. :-)

Do you know the other person who has your mother in their tree at this site? That person seems to be related to your father.

Not much else you can do but wait and see if they contact you, though you could also add a 'postem' message to their birth reg on freebmd.org.uk with a contact email ( one you won't change eg a free gmail address).
