Probably not too likely that anyone who knows of a link will see this post anytime soon, but somebody else might be able to help. :-)

Maybe start by saying which son (or his descendants) went to NZ? so as not to spend time hunting for them.

In 1851 (first year place of birth is shown), there is a Joseph:

Name: Joseph Manson [Joseph Mawson]
>> name corrected in 2011 by an Ancestry user who has logged on to the site this year
Age: 57
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1794
Relation: Head
Spouse's Name: Harriott Manson
Gender: Male
>> Where born: Yorkshire, England
Civil Parish: Islington
Occupation: journeyman plasterer
Registration district: Islington
Sub-registration district: Islington West
Joseph Manson 57
Harriott Manson 58

living next door so obviously their son:

George Manson 28 journeyman plasterer, born West. St James
Mary Manson 25
Georgian (it's Georgina) Manson 7
Sarah Manson 3
Joseph Manson 1
>> name corrected by a different Ancestry user who logged on two days ago

A start would be to contact those Ancestry users to see how closely they are related, if they are.

Otherwise, to start tracing them down the years!

In 1841, there are

John Mawson, 48 a grocer, and Sarah, both not born in county, in Poplar
Children (all born in county):
Mary 17
William 15
John 14
Henry 6

and

Charles Mawson, 40 (ish), a labourer, and Elizabeth, both not born in county, in St Clement Danes
Children (all born in county):
George 11
David 7
Sarah 5
William 1

Also, Jo can put a free family tree on here -- she only needs to include the direct Mawson lines if that is what she is wanting matches for. Anyone who searched for common ancestors or relations could send her a message if they have a paid sub, and she would be able to reply even without having a sub.

You could also search and send messages on her behalf.

For example, four people have in their trees:

Georgina Harriett Mawson 1844 Wood Green, Middlesex
Georgina Mawson 1844 St Pancras Middx
Georgina Mawson 1844 Wood Green, Middlesex
Georgina Mawson 1844 St Pancras, Middlesex

and one of those people has

Joseph Mawson 1794 Yorkshire, England

https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/indexes_search.asp

MAWSON, GEORGINA mother BARTON
GRO Reference: 1844 M Quarter in SAINT PANCRAS Volume 01 Page 318

Four people have

Charles Mawson 1801 ...
Charles Mawson 1801 West End Yorkshire
Charles Mawson 1800 Knaresborough, North Yorkshire
Charles Mawson 1800 Knaresborough, Yorkshire

and so on ...

Have you looked in search trees to see if anyone on here is researching the family?

You will need birth year and birthplace info from Jo to enable the search

Posted on behalf of Jo McKee in New Zealand.

Im the 5 X Granddaughter of William Henry Mawson, a Stonemason of Aldfield near Ripon. I believe his wife was Ann Woods. They had four sons who went to London as Bricklayers in the 1820s. William, Thomas, Joseph and possibly James & or Charles. Are there remnants of my Mawson family remaining in Yorkshire? I have had DNA testing that shows likely links to Mawson/Walker families of Pately Bridge. I would love to hear from any local genealogy enthusiasts who might know a link

Thankyou. (I will pass on any info to Jo)
