The record for 1939 is from the 1939 Register compiled on 29 Sep 1939. It’s initial use was to identify individuals for war work, military service & to issue ration books. Later it was used as the foundation of the NHS system & updated until 1992.

It can be accessed on Findmypast and Ancestry.co.uk

This could be her ?

September quarter 1958 - Rowley Regis

As she was adopted, there is no way anyone on here can find her

Add yourself to the national adoption register and if she is looking for birth family she may have done the same

Penny, no, Nora never married, her date of birth was 1918 & she died in 1996, the birth of her daughter was definitely in 1958 as my Mom said my cousin was born a couple of months after my Mom had my brothers (twin boys born in April of 1958) that being the main reason my Mom felt that she could not take Nora's child & raise her too. The family address of Stowheath Lane is correct, Rambling, where did you locate the information relating to 1939 where her name is entered as Norah Ashton please? I have already found 2 possible births in 1958 that could relate to my cousin. Argyll Gran thank you for the link to the adoption records.

The 1950 birth looks rather more likely I think? , as there doesn't seem to be a marriage for that person, whereas there may be for the 1945 birth.

Or just possibly 1945 in Wolverhampton Aston/Aston?

Which seems to strengthen the case for the 1950 Solihull birth?

Is the birth date you have for Nora on your tree correct please,1918? Do you think the birth might have been earlier than 1958 given Nora's age?

The only female Aston birth in Worcestershire 1950-1970, with mother's surname Aston, was in Solihull in 1950.

You can find it on FreeBMD.

Have you registered with the UK Adoption Register, as seeking a blood relative who has been adopted?

Information here:
https://www.gov.uk/adoption-records/the-adoption-contact-register

EDIT:

Is it possible her birth was registered under her father's surname even though Nora wasn't married to him?
If so, there was a birth under the surname Hill, with mms Aston, in Bromsgrove in the April/May/June quarter of 1958.
Again, you can find it on FreeBMD.

However, there were two Hill/Aston marriages in Bromsgrove within the previous ten years, so it 's probably not your cousin's birth.

I have a cousin I have never met, she was born in 1958 in or around Bromsgrove, her mother was my Aunt, Nora Aston. As Nora was not married she was not allowed to keep her daughter. When my Aunt passed away in 1996 we found one very old photograph among her belongings which may be her daughters father, my Mom passed away 4 years ago and I have recently begun researching the family tree again (having started briefly back in 2009) All I know of my cousin is that she was born in or around Bromsgrove sometime in June/July of 1958, she is of mixed race and that my Mom told me that my aunt had to place her in foster care, my Aunt did hope (for a while) that her parents (who she lived with) would change their minds and allow her to bring her daughter home but after about a year it was apparent that would not happen so she signed the forms for her daughter to be adopted, my Mother remembered a name something like Fitzpatrick? but that may have been the social workers name, she also remembered being told that the family who had adopted my cousin were a good family who thought the world of her. As I am getting older I feel perhaps I should pass on the old photo to my cousin if she could be located.
